Mrs. Butuk, resident of Medicine Hat and Eatonia, Saskatchewan, held an exhibition at Brandon College, 1966, mainly of oil paintings of prairie and South Saskatchewan River Valley scenes. (BU Art Catalogue, 1983) Some mountain scenes from study at Banff School.
Inscription: Presented to Brandon University by the class of 1937 in the memory of Frank Bowman, Matilda Dallas, Jack Muirhead, Jack Prugh, Harvey Shaw, Dan Stark, Jean Taylor and Dorothy Walker.
Heavy accretion of dust on image and frame. Bulging of surface in TR area of painting (probably from the pressure from the back). Three tears in canvas: 24.5cm to 32cm TR X 30cm to 34.5 cm R; 33cm to 35.5cm RM; and 35cm R X 35cm B (2cm in diameter). M
There is a 3cm tear in TR area of painting. Frame has plaster gild broken in various areas, especially along the left vertical arm. The finish on the frame is also worn off in various places.

Mrs. Busch is a long-time resident of Shellmouth, Manitoba, where her husband operated a general store for many years (shown in the painting). They live (1965) above the former store. (1969 inventory)
