Stanley William Gilbart was born on October 14, 1898 in Elkhorn, MB to James William Gilbart and Mary Greenwood. Stan quit school to work for the Manitoba politician Sir James Aikens. In 1917, he joined the Canadian Army while still underage, and his battalion was sent overseas, where Stanley saw action in France in a number of campaigns. Following the war, he returned to Elkhorn. Stan married Gladys Evelyn Lund (1903-1962) on November 1, 1921, and together they had four children: Eileen, Gordon, Lloyd and Evelyn. The Gilbarts farmed in the region and on the home farm for many years, then bought the milk business in Elkhorn in 1929, later selling in 1932. They then operated a restaurant at Kenora, ON. The couple later returned to live in Elkhorn. Stanley married Lois Farmer (?-?) in 1964, and they had a daughter, Corrine. By 1977, Stanley was living in Brandon, MB. Stanley Gilbart died on September 25, 1991 in Winnipeg, MB. He is buried at Elkhorn Cemetery.

The original tapes from the Westman Oral History project were deposited in the Brandon Public Library. Copies of these originals were made by Margaret Pollex of the Brandon University Language Lab at the request of Eileen McFadden, University Archivist in the early 1990s. These copies compose the collection held in the McKee Archives.

James Miller Young was born on February 4, 1901 at Eden, MB. Jim married Verna Mary Osborne (1907-1997) on October 27, 1930. Together they had three children: Gerald, Patricia and Marjorie. Jim served as a school trustee for the Eden Consolidated School District and Beautiful Plains School Division for more than 30 years, including 15 years at Board Chairman. Jim retired in 1967, and the couple's retirement years were spent in Neepawa, where they were very active in their community. Jim's service was commemorated by JM Young School in 1970. James Young died in May 1986. He is buried at Neepawa Cemetery.

George Harrison "Peter" Younge was born on October 17, 1902 on homstead section 14-10-28 in the Springvale District. Peter farmed with his father and brother until 1932, when he married Agnes Charlotte Thomson (1905-1998). Following the marriage, the couple purchased and resided on NE 1/4 19-10-27; over the years they would acquire three additional quarter sections. On the farm, Peter and Charlotte raised five children: Joe, Bill, Jack, Dorothy and Laura. For many years, Peter also operated a threshing outfit. Within the Springvale community, Peter served as a trustee for the school, a councillor for Ward I of Wallace Municipality, a director of Manitoba Pool elevators - Hargrave, Virden Co-op and Virden Credit Union. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a fraternal member of the Virden Legion. Peter and Charlotte retired from active farming in 1976, and moved to Virden, although they spent a lot of their retirement travelling. Peter Younge died on December 28, 1991 in Virden, MB. He is buried at Virden Cemetery.

Photograph shows a young Fred McGuinness standing in front of the lilac bushes adjacent to his house. Fred is wearing pants, sweater, gadsby cap and is standing with his hands in his pockets.
Young graduated from Brandon College in 1955. He also taught in the Geology Department from 1960-c.1997. Young was granted Professor Emeritus status in 1998.
Materials were in the possession of Harvey Young until their donation to the McKee Archives in 2008.
Scope and Content
Fonds consists of one file containing a copy of the history of the Geology Department and a drawing of its layout when it was located in the H-Huts. Both were created by Harvey Young.
Yellow stain in TR corner of mat. Light yellow discoloration running down the complete left edge of the picture, alongside the mat edge. Very light discoloration (apparent graphite mark) along top horizontal register.
In 1971, A. E. McKenzie Seeds Co. Ltd. acquired Brett-Young Seeds. Based out of Winnipeg, Brett-Young dealt exclusively in Field seeds. The price of the company was based on 75% of the booked pre-tax profit for a five-year period starting in 1972, with a minimum price of 1.3 million. In 1975, the company was sold to Manitoba Pool Elevators for 1.76 million plus inventory. However, while McKenzie Seeds owned the company, it generated 2.3 million in profits, 75% of which was paid to the previous shareholders.

Scope and Content
Sub-series consists of financial statements, board minutes and documents, including return of information and particulars under the Companies Act of Manitoba and notices of the change of directors. Correspondence in the sub-series deals largely with the resignation of the directors of Brett-Young Seeds. Records dealing with the sale of Brett-Young Seeds to Manitoba Pool Elevators are also included. The sub-series also includes one file of documents relating to the Sabetha Seed Co.
The sub-series is divided into two sub sub series, including: (1) Correspondence; and (2) Financial.

Young-Man-Afraid-of-his-Horses 'Tasunka Kokipapi' (c.. 1830-1900). Although the hereditary Oglalachief, Man-Afraid yielded his tribal authority to Red Cloud amid the turbulent years when the Sioux and Cheyenne openly opposed the Boreman Trail and succeeded in their struggle to drive the army from Sioux hunting grounds within the Powder River country. He led his people on the warpath throughout the Red Cloud War and during his later years was president of the Pine Ridge Council and represented the Oglala in Washington on several occasions. Glass is broken right through center into three pieces but is holding together by clear tape over the complete surface of the glass. The frame has come apart into three pieces along its mitre joints. Several small pieces of gild are broken off from frame
The Brandon Co-op building is located between 6th and 7th Street on the south side of Princess Avenue. The building later housed the Brandon Public Library and Convergys.
