Postcard was donated to the McKee Archives by Allen Drysdale, archivist at Beautiful Plains Archives in October 2011. Drysdale received the postcard as part of a larger donation to his archives.
Scope and Content
Item is a colour postcard of the A.E. McKenzie Seed Company in Brandon, MB. The postcard was sent to John Dorset, Elphinstone, MB from his brother Sid (?).
Frederickson Motors was located on the east side of 10th Street and Louise Avenue. It was a British American and Volkswagon dealer. It was later bought by Charlie Tosch and Doug McGill and renamed Tosch-McGill Motors. The location is currently a parking lot for City Hall.

Photograph is looking northwest from across Victoria Avenue and shows the British American station building, signs, gas pumps and various cars in the lot.

The Metropolitan store was located on the south side of Rosser Avenue at 8th Street.

Photograph shows the front of the Metropolitan Store Ltd. at night, in particular four large display windows displaying men's and women's apparel and baked goods. Signs in the windows read: Grand opening sale Friday and Saturday.

Dr. Fleming arrived May 1881 and set up his drugstore “Apothecaries Hall” in a tent. Fleming was the first medical man in Brandon, first to agitate for a hospital, and first chairman of the school board. He died November 1897.
