The First Baptist Church at the corner of 11th Street and Lorne Avenue was built in 1904 from the designs of W.A. Elliott. This was the Baptist congregation's second church; the first, a wood frame structure erected in 1885, stood on the southwest corner of 10th Street and Princess Avenue. A third church was built at 3881 Park Avenue, with the official dedication on October 16, 1994. At present (June 2007), the First Baptist Church in the photograph remains, but is unoccupied.

W.A. Elliot was commissioned by the Victoria Methodist congregation to design the church, which was built in 1909 and located at 1509 Victoria Avenue. Prior to that in 1896, Knox prsbyterian Church was built on the southeast corner of the same intersection of 15th Street and Victoria Avenue. When the United Church was organized during the 1920s, the two congregations joined to worship in Victoria Methodist, which took the name Knox United. In 1950, a new Knox United Church was built on the corner of Victoria Avnue and 18th Street and the present property sold to the Christian Reform Church.

Designed by W.A. Elliott, this house was built in 1905 for the Christie family. Ernest (E.L.) Christie was a stationer and founder of Christie's School Supplies, now Christie's Office Plus. It has been designated a heritage property by the City of Brandon.

The Brandon Club, designed in 1904 by local architect and builder W.R. Marshall, was Brandon's oldest chartered club. It was located at 158 11th Street. In the early years as an exclusive institution, the club boased such notable members as Sir Clifford Sifton, Senator J.N. Kirchoffer, and Sir R.P. Roblin. The Brandon Club closed its doors c. 2005. At present (June 2007), it is the future home of Lennon Trilogy, professional land surveyors.

Brandon's City Hall and Opera House opened on New Year's Day 1892 with the Annual Fireman's Ball. The exterior of the building was designed by Brandon architect W.R. Marshall. At the south end was the Opera House, an auditorium formed by an internally exposed framework of delicate iron pillars and trusses. Demonlished in 1971, the limestone rubble of the foundations were turned into a sunken garden located in Princess Park.

The city acquired the block of land from the Canadian Pacific Railway Company in 1894 for the price of one dollar, on the condition that it be set aside for public use. The park occupies the block between 14th and 15th Streets and Princess and Lorne Avenues.

The Prince Edward Hotel was located on the south side of Princess Avenue between 9th and 10th Streets. Completed in 1912, the Prince Eddy opened with a charity ball on June 1, 1912. The site, occupied by the Salvation Army Barracks, was purchased in 1907 by the Canadian Northern Railway, later part of the Canadian National Railway. Designed by Winnipeg architects Pratt & Ross, the Prince Eddy was a six storey brick structure built of reinforced concrete, with walls of Tyndall limestone and Roman brick. Connected to the hotel on the south was the railway terminus, which housed offices and waiting rooms. Both the hotel and station were demolished in 1980.

Erected in 1889, at 806 Rosser Avenue (the southeast corner of Rosser Avenue and 7th Street), the building was designed by Brandon architect W.H. Shillinglaw. At the time of its construction the structure housed the Nation Department Store, which became Nation & Shewan Department Store in 1894. One of Brandon’s largest and most successful drygoods businesses, the venture was owned and operated by Fred Nation and Alexander Shewan.
Built adjacent to an existing three storey brick building known as the A.D. Rankin Block (built sometime between 1885 and 1888), this smaller building was eventually absorbed by the Nation and Shewan Block after 1897, when Rankin Drygoods moved into the newly constructed Syndicate Block located farther east down Rosser Ave. Later, the Rankin Block became known as Nation Chambers. These two structures comprised what was known as the Nation and Shewan Block.
Major improvements were made to the store and an annex was added in 1910. Some of the renovation additions included, but were not limited to: an updated frontage with new copper sash windows and prismatic glass tops, plate glass windows, new fixtures and carpet. With the renovations the floor space of the business was almost doubled. The stock of the business also increased, with the Brandon Weekly Sun reporting that when finished, Nation & Shewan would be a “store of which the citizens of Brandon will be justly proud.”
The drygoods firm operated until Nation’s death 1926, when it became known as A. Shewan Limited. From 1933 to 1944, the business was known as Shewan and Son. Shortly thereafter, the Metropolitan Stores Ltd began operating out of the Nation & Shewan Block.
In 2000, the Town Centre prepared to knock down what was then known as the Red Apple Building, the former Nation & Shewan Block. The demolition was to make way for the new atrium and entrance for the mall, and begin a new period of redevelopment at the downtown shopping centre.
