Alexander Birkett Mitchell was born on June 29, 1904 in Douglas, MB. Other than a few years spent in Spirit River, AB (1929-1933), he farmed in the Douglas district until retiring in 1959. Birkett married Edith Moss "Mossie" Noble (1910-1973) on September 30, 1938, and together they had one daughter, Gail. The couple moved to Brandon following Birkett's retirement from farming. Birkett moved to Lloydminster, AB in 1986, and it was there that he died on June 22, 1988. He is buried at Rosewood Memorial Gardens.

Andrew B. Pernal was born in Poland. He completed his BA at Assumption University, his MA at Windsor and his Ph.D. in Ottawa. From 1971 until 2008, he was a member of Brandon University's History Department. In 2000, he received an honourary doctorate from Zaporizhia State University in Ukraine, and following his retirement he was granted emeritus status at BU. Pernal was a member of the Parish Council of St. Hedwig's Parish, the Director of the Polish School in Brandon, and Chairman of the Polish Refugees Committee in Brandon. He and his wife Nan (nee Robertson) had a number of children, including Andrew, Stephen, Julia and Caroline. Following Pernal's retirement, the couple moved to Calgary, AB.

Ada Hope Wells (nee Whitmore) was born on September 10, 1900 in Leiscester, England. She came to Edrans, MB with her family in 1905. As a young girl she worked as a hired girl and nursemaid for a number of families in the Wellwood district. On June 15, 1918, Ada married John James Wells (1885-1968), a farmer. Together the couple had ten children: Winona, Dawn, Andrew, James, John, Charles, Beth, Alex, Fancis and Joan. Ada and John farmed at Wellwood until 1956, when they retired to the village and their son Alex took over the farm. Ada moved to Neepawa in 1982. Ada was a very talented seamstress and baker, and active in the church, Zion Presbyterian in Wellwood and Knox in Neepawa. She was also involved in the community as a member of the WMS and as a girls' group leader. She was often called upon to assist with sick children and helped deliver a number of babies in the district. During World War II she spent hours preparing and wrapping parcels for soldiers overseas. Ada Wells died on May 9, 1997 in Neepawa, MB. She is buried at Wellwood Cemetery.

Elizabeth Jane Adams (nee Bulloch) was born on January 8, 1886 in Lanark, ON. She left Ontario in 1904 to join family in the West. Elizabeth married Robert Adams (1878-1957) on July 25, 1906 and together had four children: Robert Stewart, Agnes Wilda, Jessie Doreen and Marion. The couple farmed at various locations during their married life. As newlyweds, they farmed the homestead at NW 2-6-29. In 1924, they moved to Sinclair SW 35-7-29, then bought NW quarter 26-7-29 from the Hudson's Bay Company and finally in 1928, they purchased SE quarter 34-7-29. During these years, Elizabeth assisted on the farm and also worked as an assistant to the local doctor. In 1923, Elizabeth and Robert's car was struck by a train when they stalled on the crossing at Sinclair while hauling supplies.
Elizabeth and Robert retired to Sinclair in 1949. After Robert's death, Elizabeth moved out to the farm with her son, then later lived with daughter Marion and son-in-law Bill Mayert. In 1973, Elizabeth moved to the Westman Nursing Home in Virden, then in 1984 moved to Willowview Personal Care Home in Reston. Elizabeth Adams died on September 1, 1993 in Reston, MB. She is buried at Sinclair Cemetery.

Evelina "Sinc" Adams (nee Sinclair) was born on November 22, 1898 at Shoal Lake, MB. She grew up in Rossburn, and then in 1918 moved to Neepawa to train as a registered nurse. She nursed on and off in hospital and care homes until retiring in 1968. Sinc married William R. Adams (1898-1988) on November 29, 1922 and together they raised four children - Florence, Margaret, John and William - on the family farm west of Neepawa. The couple moved into town in 1944, and ceased farming in 1970. Sinc was active in the community as a member of the United Church, a Red Cross supporter, a school trustee and a life time member of the Beautiful Plains Museum and the Porphyria Foundation. She enjoyed curling, golf and family history and was a long time member of the Anemone Rebekah Lodge #23. She was awarded the Decloration of Chivalry, the highest honor a member can receive. Evelina Adams died on December 13, 1990 in Neepawa, MB. She is buried at Riverside Cemetery.

A.E. "Alex" Adams (b. 1888?) came to Kenton, MB in 1910, where he worked in Mitchell's store. He married Margaret Snyder (b. 1889?), who taught school in Anworth. The couple lived above the store, and raised Dell and Harold Morton, who where Margaret's sister's children. The Adams' were active in community life. Margaret organized the first Sunday School orchestra and helped with all church groups. Alex and Margaret left Kenton to run a branch store in Lenore, MB and later in Virden, MB. Margaret Adams died on May 14, 1982 in Virden, MB. Alex Adams died in 1985 in Virden, MB. Their ashes were scattered in the Virden Assiniboine River hills in which they spent a great deal of time.

Agnes McQuarrie (nee Scott) was born on November 17,1889 at Maple Hill Farm at Oak Lake, MB. She grew up on the farm, receiving her early education at Sandhurt School, later attending Portage Collegiate for one year of Arts, before attending Portage Normal School (1908-1911). Agnes taught at Pleasant Plain School, Routledge and at Oakwood School. In 1917, she married John Beaton "Jack" McQuarrie (1888-1967). After their marriage, Agnes stayed home and took care of the couple's six children: Neil, Murray, Danny, Gwen, Margaret and Jean. Agnes McQuarrie died on May 30, 1990 in Virden, MB. She is buried at Oak Lake Cemetery.

Albert Leronowich was born on March 18, 1894 in Poland. He immigrated to Canada in 1912 and spent time in Calgary, AB and Oak Lake, MB before settling in Brandon, MB. Albert spent some time farming, before holding a number of positions with the Canadian Pacific Railway, including rail section man, fireman, and brakeman; he retired as a CPR boilermaker in 1959. Following retirement, Albert spent a few years as gardener of the Brandon City Hall grounds. He was a member of the Brandon Horticultural Society and was avidly interested in growing flowers, winning many tropies and prizes for his efforts. Albert married Stella Polnick (1903-1975) and together they had six children: Mark, Charles, Edward, Donald, Anne and Gladys. Albert Leronowich died on March 20, 1988 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Brandon Municipal Cemetery.

He attended Buckingham School and worked on the farm with his father until his father's retirement, at which point Albert took over the farm. Albert married Evelyne Bolam on December 17, 1939 and they had four children: Leland, Valerie, Sherryl and Tannis. The couple moved into Elkhorn in 1967, and Albert retired from farming in 1978. Active in his community, Albert served as a trustee for the Buckingham School District, on the United Church Board, and was a member of the Agricultural Society and the Curling Club. He also served 34 years on the local Manitoba Pool Elevator board, eleven of which he was chairman of Sub-District No. 502. In 1996, Albert was recognized as an outstanding volunteer by the Manitoba Association of Agricultural Societies. Albert Hodson died on September 18, 2009 in Elkhorn, MB. He is buried at Elkhorn Cemetery.

Peter Alexander (P.A.) Alex McPhail was born on July 11, 1897 in the RM of Elton. Raised on the family farm in Forrest, MB, he was the eldest son of Archie and Mary McPhail who came to Manitoba from Ontario. Alex took over the farm in 1915, and farmed there until 1949, when he and his family moved to Brandon. During the First World War, Alex was a lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He married Effie Irene Weir (1900-1999) in 1933 and together they raised four children: Ronald, Malcolm, Archie and Donna. Effie and Alex were both active members of their community. Alex was especially involved in the agricultural community and won many prizes over the years for his livestock. From 1954-1965, Alex was the General Manager for the Provincial Exhibition Association of Manitoba and the Manitoba Winter Fair. He also served one term as the president of the Canadian Association of Exhibitions. Additionally, Alex was on the Brandon General Hospital board, the Brandon College board, and was a member of the Kiwanis and Shriners clubs. He was also involved in local sports. Both Alex and Effie McPhail were active members of the United Church. Alex McPhail died on June 28, 1989 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Humesville Cemetery.

Maria Corlette Nelson (nee Grant) was born on December 29, 1900 on the family homestead at Forrest, MB. Maria attended Clark Hall Academy at Brandon College and continued her education until she received her BA in 1925, and her Certificate of Education from Toronto in 1927. Returning to the prairies, she spent the next six years teaching. In 1930, Maria married Wesley Gordon Nelson (1899-1981) and moved to the Nelson farm in the Sparling district. The couple had three daughters, Catherine, Helen and Marion, the latter who died at 3 years of age. In 1960, Maria entered Brandon College's teacher training course (TTC). Maria Nelson died on May 16, 1996 in Winnipeg, MB. She is buried at Brandon Municipal Cemetery.
Ella Laura Cole was born on in 1897 in the RM of Elton in what is now the North End of Brandon, MB. She came to Brandon, MB in 1923 to attend business college. Laura worked for Hughes and Company for over 39 years, then worked for Gordon West until retiring in 1969. Laura was a member of Knox United Church. She never married. Laura Cole died on January 12, 1989 in Brandon, MB. She is buried at Brandon Municipal Cemetery.

Alexander Hector Black was born on August 31, 1901 in Oak River, MB. Alex lived in the Oak River area his entire life, farming until he retired in 1976. He married Blanche Edith Paddock (1905-1985) on October 14, 1936 and together they had four children: Frank, Margaret, Melvin and Eileen. The couple moved into Oak River in 1976, and Alex remained in the home until 1997. Alex was active in the community as a member of the church board, teasurer of the church, and Sunday School Superintendent. He was also a member of the school board and the Pool Elevator board, as well as a director of the Agricultural Society (1925-198?). Alex Black died on April 1, 1999 in Hamiota, MB. He is buried at Oak River Cemetery.

Alice May (nee Heal) was born August 13, 1910 in Strathclair, MB to Charles and Kristina Heal. Alice worked as a secretary and bookkeeper and then as a homemaker. She married Frank May (1901-1985) on November 16, 1932 and together they had two children: Frances and Arthur. The family moved to Strathclair in 1946. Alice May died on August 10, 2006 in Shoal Lake, MB. She is buried at Strathclair Muncipal Cemetery.

Allen John "Jack" Whetter was born September 6, 1908 in Dand, MB, in the Hartney district. Aside from one year in Ontario, Jack spent his entire life in the Chain Lakes area. He attended Chain Lakes and Dand schools, and the Chain Lakes Friends Church, which was later moved to Dand and became Dand United Church. A farmer, he maried Donalda Louise Gee (1919-2014) in 1940, and together they had four children: Gerald, Darlene, Rodney and Nancy. Jack and Donalda were members of the Elgin Square Dance Club and curled at Hathaway. In later years they enjoyed travelling. Jack was involved in leadership roles in Dand and Hartney, serving as a board member for Dand School, Hartney Credit Union and Manitoba Pool. A dedicated member of his church, he taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Jack Whetter died on February 2, 2002 in Hartney, MB. He is buried at Chain Lakes Cemetery.

Ethel Elizabeth Mary Allen (nee Baker) was born on June 30, 1915 on Springhill Farm in the RM of Rosedale. She attended Springhill School and Neepawa Collegiate. An accomplished pianist, she formed a band with her brothers and together they played many dances. Ethel married William Allen (1902-1964) in June 1938 and together they had one son, Larry. Following the marriage, the couple lived in the residence at Howden elevator where Bill was the elevator agent for the Ogilvie company. Ethel helped Bill with bookkeeping. When Bill died, Ethel moved to Neepawa, where she worked for the Osborone Senior Citizens Home for a number of years. A long time member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Naomi Chapter No. 11, Ethel enjoyed curling, sewing and travel. Ethel Allen died on May 14, 2001 in Neepawa, MB. She is buried at Riverside Cemetery.

Alva Redell "Alvie" Spafford was born on March 15, 1891 at Enterprise, MB. He attended school at Victoria Lake and Henderson schools. Alvie left Enterprise in 1902, and moved to Bannerman, MB, where he farmed until 1936. He later moved to Boissevain, where he worked as a Rawleigh salesman, and then in 1942, he moved to Brandon and was employed as a conductor for the Canadian National Railway (CNR) until his retirement. Alvie married Frances Ethel Harrison (1895-1979) and they had three children: Carl, Edna and Raymond. Alvie Spafford died on August 25, 1985 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Killarney and District Cemetery.

Floyd Renwick Amos was born in September 1900 in Waskada, MB. Floyd attended schools in the area and worked with his father as a blacksmith, until he began farming in the Bagot area. In 1935, he moved to Austin. That same year, Floyd married Irene B. Martin (1909-1964). Together they had two children: Irma and John. Floyd farmed until 1955, and the next year he became night supervisor at the Manitoba Home for Boys in Portage la Prairie. He held this position until retiring in 1967. Following retirement, Floyd moved to Winnipeg where he lived with his sister and niece. Floyd Amos died on April 1, 1989 in Winnipeg, MB. He is buried at Austin Cemetery.

Hans Andersen was born at Moline, Manitoba, on February 28, 1922, the third child of Andrew and Hansine Andersen. Andersen grew up on his family’s farm, attending Moline public school. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1943 to 1946, as part of the 23rd Field Artillery of the 4th Division, serving in England, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. After military service in World War II, Andersen returned home and started a farming career in the Moore Park district, located in the Rural Municipality of Odanah. In 1946, Andersen also married Marthe Renauld (1922-1977). The couple had 3 children: Karen, James and Mary Lou.
For 40 years, Andersen farmed in the Moore Park area, where he was also heavily involved in the local community. He was a trustee for Moore Park consolidated school district and a member of the Elton municipal school board. He was also a member of the Moore Park pool elevator board, and the Royal Canadian Legion. In 1970, Andersen was elected to the position of Reeve of the RM of Odanah. He remained the Reeve of Odanah until 1978.
In 1978, Andersen married Thelma Terry, and moved to Rapid City. In Rapid City, Andersen continued farming, gradually reducing his time in farming until he sold the last of his land to his family in 1990. In Rapid City, Andersen was involved in the building of a brand new seniors centre, and occupied himself in retirement with not only golfing but lots of traveling, going to places like the United States and Europe.
After 2000, Andersen’s health began to deteriorate due to the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. Hans Andersen died on January 12, 2008. He is buried at Rosewood Memorial Gardens.
