This plate was the property of Edna and Carl Bjarnason. It was in their possession for some fifty years prior to its donation to the University on October, 2005. The Development Office took possession of the plate at that time and transferred it to the Archives in March 2008.
Scope and Content
The plate measures 26 cm in diameter and is white with blue glazing. The centre of the plate depicts the Brandon College Original Building and the words "Brandon College, Brandon Manitoba." The outside of the plate is a flower motif. On the back of the plate, in the same blue as the front, are the words "Canadian View Series, Brandon Manitoba." There is also a trademark of a bird with a banner reading "Trademark England."

Arthur Galbraith was born on May 20, 1894 in Hartney, MB. He attended school in Hartney and then Agricultural College in Winnipeg from 1915-1917. Art began faming with his father in 1910, and officially took over the farm in 1923. He continued to farm until 1958. Although not a registered veterinarian, Art learned about vet work from Dr. Rud in Hartney, and his services were wideley used in the district. Art married Verna Mabel Glover (1900-1973) on April 9, 1924. Together they raised four children: Robert, Marjorie, Anna and Lorna. On January 20, 1979, Art married Lavinia May Russell (nee Hodgson) (1912-2001). Art served as Reeve of Cameron Municipality from 1946-1975, and was also a member of the Orange Lodge, the Masonic Lodge, the Eastern Star and the United Church. Arthur Galbraith died on March 4, 1993. He is buried at Riverside Cemetery.

The original tapes from the Westman Oral History project were deposited in the Brandon Public Library. Copies of these originals were made by Margaret Pollex of the Brandon University Language Lab at the request of Eileen McFadden, University Archivist in the early 1990s. These copies compose the collection held in the McKee Archives.

Vining taught Mathematics, Natural Science, History, and Physics at Brandon College from 1900-1918. Vining wrote the lyrics to "Hail Our College;" his wife Abigail wrote the music.

Harold Bertram Medd was born on July 21, 1912 in the Rural Municipality of Cornwallis on the family farm two miles south of Brandon, MB. Medd attended Cornwallis School and Brandon Collegiate Institute. Medd married Jean Stella Beresford (1914-2001) on April 25, 1936 and together they raised four children: William, Jack, Harold and Frances. The famiy moved to Brandon in 1947, and Medd continued to operate a successful farming operation. In his younger years, Medd was an avid hunter and conservationist, and an active member of the Brandon Wildlife Association. In the 1940s, he took up flying, and during his many trips around the countryside he recorded wildlife sightings, sharing them with the Provincial Wildlife branch; for many years he conducted official wildlife surveys for the province. Following retirement in 1961, he and his wife set up a ceramic studio in their home. Medd and his wife were members of the Baha'i faith and very active in that community. Harold Medd died on October 19, 2003 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Brandon Municipal Cemetery.

Harold Garfield Lund was born on August 9, 1896 in the RM of Wallace. He lived in the Lippintot district south of Elkhorn and attended school at Kola. Harold married Eretta Jean McDonald (1901-1988) on January 1, 1926. They had three children, including Eretta Ilene and Doris. Harold Lund died in 1985. He is buried at Woodville Cemetery.
