Item is a mini-chapbook entitled "The Therapy of Joseph Small" by Don Bailey. It is series 3, number 4 in the Dollarpoems series. The series was published by DOLLARPOEMS with the aid of a grant from The Manitoba Arts Council.
Adelene Monica Bailey was a music student at Brandon College and later an instructor in the Music Department and wife of J.R.C. Evans, Brandon College President.

Image consists of a table displaying a box of B.C. apples, a variety of other food items, a tea pot and a coffee pot, as well as a place setting of dishes and silverware and a sign which reads "Include B.C. fruit this Thanksgiving".
Thomas Roy Bailey was born on September 5, 1915 on the family farm in the RM of North Cypress. He attended school in the PRosser District before taking over the farm in 1945. In 1970, he hosted the Royal Family on the family farm. Roy married Nora Elizabeth Froom (1921-1986) on October 11, 1941 and together they had three sons: Alan, Brian and Douglas. Following Nora's death, Roy married Edith Lillian Oliver Ranson (1915-2002) in 1988.
Roy spent his lifetime contributing in various ways to his community, in both Carberry and the North Cypress. He served on Municipal Council, Carberry Development Corporation, Vegetable Growers Association, Hospital Board and United Church Board of Stewards and Session. He took a leadership role in starting the growing of potatoes in the area, constructing the Carberry Plains Lodge, the Carberry Plains Recreation Centre and also helped to design the Sandhills Golf Course. Roy was a life member of the Oddfellows and Rebekahs. He was inducted into the Mantioba Agricultural Hall of Game and awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Carberry Chamber of Commerce. He was actively involved with his family, the drop in centre, and enjoyed playing golf. T. Roy Bailey died on January 30, 2011 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Carberry Plains Cemetery.
Custodial History
As part of the Westman Oral History Collection, this collection was accessioned by the McKee Archives in 1998. The original tapes from the Westman Oral History project were deposited in the Brandon Public Library. Copies of these originals were made by Margaret Pollex of the Brandon University Language Lab at the request of Eileen McFadden, University Archivist in the early 1990s. These copies compose the collection held in the McKee Archives.

Ray Bailey was born in Brandon Manitoba in 1922. A Bachelor of Science degree from Brandon College in 1944 completed his education there. Following a short stint as a Chemist he entered the University of Manitoba. There, in 1946, he earned a Diploma in Education. Subsequent study brought a Master of Education degree in 1966. In 1973, he was awareded a Canada Council grant for additional studies.
He began his teaching career at Killarney, MB in March 1946, teaching science. Later he held teaching and adminitrative positions in Melita, Morris and Seven Oaks School Divisions. He retired as Principal of Arthur E. Wright Elementary School in 1986. Bailey was active in the Manitoba Teachers Society and the Manitoba Library Trustees Association. In 1973, the city of Winnipeg gave him a community service award. In 2005, he was a recipient of the Brandon University Alumni Association's Distinguished Alumni Award.
He married Joan Pettipher in 1949. They had four children, Ronald, Ann, Mary and Robert. Joan Bailey died in 1988. Raymond Bailey lived in Winnipeg with his wife Barbara until his death on July 23, 2015.
Custodial History
Book was acquired at a book launch sponsored by Pennywise Books, Brandon, Manitoba in January 2006. The Brandon College documents were probably collected by Bailey during his time as a student in the early 1940s. He donated them to the McKee Archives in November 1994. The yearbooks were delivered to the Archives by Gerald Brown for Bailey in April 2008.
Scope and Content
Fonds consists of an autographed copy of Bailey's book "tadpole to Little Frong (in a big pond)." It also includes three Brandon Collegiate Institute yearbooks the New Era for 1938-40, one file of Brandon College records, including eligibility lists for the Students' Association, a Physics IV test, a letter to Bailey excusing him from non-combat duty due to his work as an assistant in the Chemistry Department, a dance program for the Valentine Formal (1943), a freshman reception list and a program/invitation to a musical evening at the home of Martin Johns, Professor in the Physics Department.

Donald Ross MacKay was born in Weyburn, Saskatchewan. He came to Brandon College in 1936, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1939. From 1940-1947, MacKay served in the Canadian Army Canada and overseas. In September 1947 he was appointed Registrar-Bursar at Brandon College. During his career he also served as University Comptroller, Public Relations Officer, Director of Development, Secretary to the Board of Governors, Secretary of the Board of Directors, Secretary to Senate and Assistant to the President. He also served on the Brandon College Expansion Committee, the Hales Museum Committee and was the Chairman of the Athletic Directorate. MacKay retired from the University in 1984. After his retirement he served on the Brandon University Foundation Board of Directors. In recognition of his service to the University MaKay was presented with the Alumni Award in 1974 and with the Distinguished Service Award in 1981 for his contributions to society. MacKay's additional community involvement included the Centennial Auditorium Committee, the Brandon Schools Orchestral Band Association, the Planning Committee for First United Church - St. Paul's Church (what became Central United Church), the Manitoba Heart Foundation, the Kiwanis Club, the Wally Byam Caravan Club, Nitecappers and Northview Pools Inc.
MacKay's career at Brandon College and Brandon University was unprecedented in the breadth of administrative responsibility. As a result, records created during his tenure as Comptroller almost certainly also reflect his responsibilites beyond the Comptroller's Office.
Don MacKay died on April 2, 1990. He was predeceased by his first wife Gwen Dobie, with whom he had four children: Joan, Holly, Ross and Jane. He left behind a second wife, Mona.
Donovan Elliott Hockley was born on July 26, 1912 in North Brandon, MB. Don married Helen Violet Wagner (1917-2005) on August 12, 1942. Together they had four children: Wesley, Garth, Glen and Dale. The couple purchased their farm in North Brandon in 1945, gradually increasing their holdings and evolving their operation. Don founded Donovan Holsteins in 1958, and remained active in farming into his 80s. His hobbies included woodworking, the restoration of antique cars and travelling. After his wife died in 2005, Don spent his winters in Chilliwack, BC with his son Dale and his family. Don Hockley died on July 19, 2011 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Rosewood Memorial Gardens.
