Alice Eva Simmons was born on July 23, 1909 in Wingham, ON. Her mother's side of the family came to Ontario from England through the Immigrant Department of Canada, with the help of the Salvation Army. After Eva's father died, her mother remarried a farmer from the Bunclody, MB area; Eva and her three siblings grew up in this area, with Eva attending high school in Brandon. Eva married Carman Duncan in 1932, and the couple farmed in the Moline area until Carman's death in 1957. It was here that their daughters Corinne and Peggy were born. Eva and Corrine lived in Brandon and Calgary before Eva moved back to Brandon, where she resided for the rest of her life. Eva was actively involved in the Salvation Army in Brandon, serving as the secretary of the Brandon Salvation Army court. She was also very active in the Daily House Museum auxiliary. Eva Duncan died on August 15, 2001 in Brandon, MB. She is buried at Rapid City Cemetery.

Eva Blanche Roddick Davis was born September 20, 1900 at Linkwood Lodge farm in the Brandon Hills area of the RM of Cornwallis. She was the daughter of John Hardy Roddick and Ida Johnson, and spent her childhood on the home farm in the Brandon Hills, which had been settled by her grandfather, the Rev. George Roddick, a pioneer who came to the are in 1879 from Nova Scotia. Eva attended Brandon Hills school and Brandon Collegiate Institute (BCI), before graduating from the Brandon Normal School in 1920. From 1920-1921, she taught at Little Souris. Although her parents moved to Brandon that year, she returned to the Brandon Hills to the Davis family farm, Glenwood Farm, after marrying Meredith William Davis (1897-1968) on February 28, 1931. The Davis family came to the Brandon Hills in 1879 from Palmer, Massachusetts. The couple sold the farm in 1940, and moved into Brandon, where Med worked as a motor mechanic. The Davis' had three children: Georgina, Shirley, and Bill. Eva was involved with the family farm and on a committee for planning the Brandon Hills district centennial in 1979. Additionally, she was a member of the Brandon Hills Busy Bees, the Women's Missionary Society, the UCW at Knox United Church, the Canadian Lady Foresters and the Court Princess Mary L2. Eva Roddick Davis died in Brandon on December 20, 1986. She is buried at Brandon Hills Cemetery.

Maria Corlette Nelson (nee Grant) was born on December 24, 1900 in near Forrest, MB in the Humesville district. Maria took her high school at the Academy in Brandon, then graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Brandon College in 1925. She took her teacher training in Toronto at the College of Education. Her first teaching post was in Kamsack, SK in 1926; it was followed by postings in Kinley and Saskatoon before Maria married Wesley Gordon Nelson (1899-1981) on December 25, 1930. Following the marriage, the couple resided on Wesley's farm south of Justice, MB. Together they had three daughters: Catherine, Helen and Marian.
Maria took additional teaching courses at Brandon University in her late 50s, completing the teacher training program. She also took a library course at Minneapolis. She then organized the library at Harrison High School in Brandon. Maria's other interests included membership in the Canadian Federation of University Women and the Brandon Council of Women, as well as her church women's group (WMS). Maria Nelson died on May 16, 1995 in Winnipeg, MB. She is buried at Brandon Municipal Cemetery.

Nelson Menno Shoemaker was born on February 17, 1911 on NE 33-25-23 near Grandview, MB. He received his elementary schooling at Artemesia School, then took high school in Grandview. He came to Neepawa in May 1931, where he worked as a Watkins salesman. During the Second World War, Nelson became a Wawanesa Insurance agent. He later was a partner in the insurance and real estate firm of Shoemaker-McGilvray Agencies. In 1958, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba as a member of the Liberal Party. He was re-elected in 1959, 1962 and 1966, before being defeated in 1969. He was awarded a Canadian Centennial Medal in 1967, in recognition of this community service.
Nelson married Edith Emma Ford (1903-1999) on June 29, 1933, and together they had two daughters: Penelope Lynn and Erin Diane. Nelson served as the Sectretary-Treasurer of the Neepawa Curling Club, as director of Associated Hospitals of Manitoba, and as an alderman for the Town of Neepawa. He was also a member of the Neepawa Lions Club, Neepawa Curling Club, the Manitoba Real Estate Board and the Insurance Agent's Association of Manitoba. Nelson Shoemaker died on June 10, 2003 in Neepawa, MB. He is buried at Riverside Cemetery.

Maria Corlette Nelson (nee Grant) was born on December 29, 1900 on the family homestead at Forrest, MB. Maria attended Clark Hall Academy at Brandon College and continued her education until she received her BA in 1925, and her Certificate of Education from Toronto in 1927. Returning to the prairies, she spent the next six years teaching. In 1930, Maria married Wesley Gordon Nelson (1899-1981) and moved to the Nelson farm in the Sparling district. The couple had three daughters, Catherine, Helen and Marion, the latter who died at 3 years of age. In 1960, Maria entered Brandon College's teacher training course (TTC). Maria Nelson died on May 16, 1996 in Winnipeg, MB. She is buried at Brandon Municipal Cemetery.
Ella Laura Cole was born on in 1897 in the RM of Elton in what is now the North End of Brandon, MB. She came to Brandon, MB in 1923 to attend business college. Laura worked for Hughes and Company for over 39 years, then worked for Gordon West until retiring in 1969. Laura was a member of Knox United Church. She never married. Laura Cole died on January 12, 1989 in Brandon, MB. She is buried at Brandon Municipal Cemetery.
Peter Alexander (P.A.) Alex McPhail was born on July 11, 1897 in the RM of Elton in what is now the North End of Brandon, MB. Raised on the family farm in Forrest, MB, he was the eldest son of Archie and Mary McPhail who came to Manitoba from Ontario. Alex took over the farm in 1915, and farmed there until 1949, when he and his family moved to Brandon. During the First World War, Alex as a lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He married Effie Irene Weir (1900-1999) in 1933 and together they raised four children: Ronald, Malcolm, Archie and Donna. Effie and Alex were both active members of their community. Alex was especially involved in the agricultural community and won many prizes over the years for his livestock. From 1954-1965, Alex was the General Manager for the Provincial Exhibition Association of Manitoba and the Manitoba Winter Fair. He also served one term as the president of the Canadian Association of Exhibitions. Additionally, Alex was on the Brandon General Hospital board, the Brandon College board, and was a member of the Kiwanis and Shriners clubs. He was also involved in local sports. Both Alex and Effie McPhail were active members of the United Church. Alex McPhail died on June 28, 1989 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Humesville Cemetery.

Ethel Elizabeth Mary Allen (nee Baker) was born on June 30, 1915 on Springhill Farm in the RM of Rosedale. She attended Springhill School and Neepawa Collegiate. An accomplished pianist, she formed a band with her brothers and together they played many dances. Ethel married William Allen (1902-1964) in June 1938 and together they had one son, Larry. Following the marriage, the couple lived in the residence at Howden elevator where Bill was the elevator agent for the Ogilvie company. Ethel helped Bill with bookkeeping. When Bill died, Ethel moved to Neepawa, where she worked for the Osborone Senior Citizens Home for a number of years. A long time member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Naomi Chapter No. 11, Ethel enjoyed curling, sewing and travel. Ethel Allen died on May 14, 2001 in Neepawa, MB. She is buried at Riverside Cemetery.

Faith Ellen Flay (nee Willis) was born on September 17, 1884 in Little Burn, Devonshire, England. Faith married William Frederick Flay (1877-1965) in Tiverton, Devon on December 26, 1906 and together they had two children: Winnifred Ellen and William George. She immigrated to Canada with her children in 1916 to join her husband who had come to Canada in 1913. The family lived in many communities in southern Manitoba - Deloraine, Clearwater, Whitewater, Boissevain, Hartney and Brandon - where William farmed and worked for the railroad. Faith took her midwife training in Britain and continued to work as a midwife in Manitoba, working closely with Dr. Buchanan (Deloraine) and Dr. Corbett (Crystal City). Faith Flay died on Septebmer 22, 1985 in Brandon, MB. She is buried at Riverside Cemetery.

Florence Alice Hinch (nee Matthews) was born on October 21, 1898 in Charlottetown, PEI. She came to Brandon with her parents James Ewen and Deborah (Lowther) Matthews, as well as brother Ralph, in 1911. James Matthews served in the Canadian Parliament for a number of years. Florence received her education in Brandon, graduating from Brandon College. After teaching at Hunter and Hayfield schools, she married John S Hinch (1888-1954) in October 1926. Together they had two children: John and Howard. Florence and John farmed SE 2-10-20 in the RM of Whitehead. She was an avid supporter and player at the Roseland Curling Rink, and also participated in many school and church activities. Florence Hinch died on April 16, 1991 in Brandon, MB. She is buried at Brandon Municipal Cemetery.
