Clarence Benjamin Graham? Spurr, was born in on February 13, 1891 in Bancroft, Ontario. Spurr began working for the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1914 as a station agent at Rocanville, SK and spent many years as an agent in various communities in Saskatchewan and Manitoba before retiring in 1955. In 1923, he married Elizabeth Wallace Lindsay (1893-1979) and they raised three children, sons Ewart and Delbert and adopted niece Verna Spurr. Clarence and Elizabeth moved to Brandon, MB following his retirement. Spurr joined the Canadian military in 1915, and was initially sent to Camp Hughes. A signaler and runner, he spent 1916-1918 overseas. Clarence Spurr died on December 21, 1982 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Brandon Municipal Cemetery.

Eric Bamford Gowler was born on September 2, 1901 in Toronto, ON. His family moved to Grenfell, SK in 1904, and that is where he received his schooling. From 1920-1926, Eric worked as a bank clerk for Dominion Bank in Grenfell, Regina and Boissevain, moving to the latter in 1923. In 1926, Eric resigned from the bank and formed a partnership with George McDonald in an implement business. The partnership was dissolved in 1935. Subsequently, Eric took on an International Harvester dealership for tractors and machines. In 1946, his dealership was the first International Harvester dealer outside of the United States to be modernized. A significant portion of the business' success, was the publication of the adversising bulletin, "The Waggin' Tongue," which ran for twenty-two years. Eric retired in 1961, selling the business, but not the building, to John McDonald, Hugh Broadfoot and R. Nicholson. Eric married Mildred Welch (1900-1971) in 1927 and together they had two sons: Douglas and James. Eric Gowler died in 1990.
Hugh Gibson Broadfoot was born on July 2, 1935. When Gowler retired from the impliment business, Hugh bought into the company along with John McDonald and R. Nicholson. Hugh married Judith Elaine Smith (1939-2022) on May 26, 1962 and together they had four children: Devron, Jason, Susan and Shirley. Hugh Broadfoot died on April 4, 2015 in Boissevain, MB. He is buried at Boissevain and Morton Cemetery.

Harry Edwin Brindle was born on June 13, 1913 in Souris, MB. Educated in Souris, Harry worked for Safeway from 1933-1939. He married Isabel Mary Barlow (1915-2009) on May 2, 1938. The couple had two children: Geraldine and Larry. Shortly after the wedding, the family moved to Estevan, Regina and then to Fort William, where Harry worked for Canada Car Foundry. The family then briefly moved to Montreal and then to Winnipeg. In Winnipeg, Harry joined the army and served with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. While in the Service, Harry attended radio school in Winnipeg, then used his Service gratuity to continue his education. Following the Second World War, the family moved back to Souris, and Harry opened an appliance store for Box's Hardware called The Electric Shop. A fire in 1951, forced a move to Box's Hardware and then in 1957, Harry opened his own radio and TV repair shop. Harry sold Brindle's Radio and TV in 1976 and retired. Passionate about music, Harry spent his free time playting in dance bands, the city band and a German band, as well as on many occasions in the community. He also served on the committees that built the Legion Club and the swimming pool. Harry Brindle died on January 5, 2012 in Souris, MB. He is buried at Souris Glenwood Cemetery.
Carter Hawkins Brindle was born in Blackburn, England on November 23, 1867. He came to Canada with his family in 1884, and they homesteaded near Virden, MB before moving to Souris, MB in 1887. Until 1892, Carter was employed as a stage coach driver on the Plum Creek* Trail between Souris and Brandon. By 1900, he was working as a sign painter, carpenter, architect and builder in Souris. Carter desinged many of the brick commercial buildings along Crescent Avenue. A member of the Manitoba Association of Architects after 1910, Carter continued to practice until the late 1930s. Carter married Ida Lora Lawson (1879-1959) on June 30, 1903. Together they had five children: Susie Marion Gwendoline, Hattie Martha, Harry Edwin, Edith and Ida. Carter Brindle died on July 23, 1957 in Souris, MB. He is buried at Souris Glenwood Cemetery.
*Plum Creek is the old name for what is now Souris, MB. The Plum Creek stage travelled between Brandon and Plum Creek daily from approximately 1886-1892.

Harry Wilson Miller was born on January 9, 1905 on NW 2-12-18 at Justice, MB. He attended school locally until he was old enough to take up farming with his father. Harry married Grace Ellen Cox (1918-2003) on November 14, 1934 and together they had three children: Donna, Garry and Lorna. The Millers farmed in the Justice area until the early 1970s, when they began the process of retiring. In 1990, Harry and Grace moved to Brandon. Harry was the leader of the Justice 4-H Seed Club for over 20 years, was a long-time member of the Justice United Church board and served on the Justice Community Club. He also called many square dances and enjoyed dancing. Harry Miller died on July 16, 1997 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Rosewood Memorial Gardens.

The structure of the Manitoba Pool Elevators from its beginning in 1925 until its restructuring in 1968 placed importance in the principle of democracy. The company was run from the local associations, the central office acting as a hub that facilitated communication between all the locals and between the locals and the selling agencies. The central office was not powerless, but important decisions or by-laws could not be made with out the consent of the majority of the locals.
After the restructuring of MPE in 1968 the central office took on more responsibilities. It became the top of the administrative structure and instead of members belonging to their local elevator, they were now direct members of MPE. This administrative structure continued until the 1998 merger with the Alberta Wheat Pool to form Agricore.

Series B consists of an artificially assembled collection of Central Office records. The Manitoba Wheat Pool and Manitoba Pool Elevators kept and preserved a chronological record of the meetings of the MPE Board of Directors and annual delegate meetings. The minutes were typed and bound, then placed in the MPE reference library so that employees and members could access them.

A copy of a Local Associations (later the Local Pool Committees) would be sent to the Central Office, where it was stored until a microfilm copy could be made. Records were only transferred to microfilm until 1957.

As a co-operative company, the Manitoba Wheat Pool and later the Manitoba Pool Elevators was member controlled. In order to run the company successfully members needed to be educated and kept updated about the companies financial and organizational situation. Sub-series MPE B.7 consists of annual reports. There are two complete sets of annual reports, one for archival storage and one for use by researchers. Neither set contains a report for 1931. Reports from 1926 until 1928 are Manitoba Co-operative Wheat Producers, Ltd. Reports, 1929 - 1930 are Manitoba Wheat Pool Reports. All reports subsequent to 1931 are Manitoba Pool Elevators.

Sub-series MPE B.4 consists of local association financial statements.The statements are bound in uniform hardcover volumes. The statements is organized chronologically, and alphabetically by local association name within each individual year.
The records for each individual local's fiscal year consists of: 1) letter of certification from the auditors; 2) summary of income and expenses of said local association.
Speeches and addresses given by executives of the Manitoba Wheat Pool and MPE as well as argricultural experts and supporters of the co-operative movement helped to spread and solidify support for the Pools. Manitoba Pool Elevators was quick to realize the usefulness of the radio medium as a educational and promotional tool.
