She gave them to Niel Henry, a local girls fastball coach in Brandon ca. 2000. The photographs were stored at Henry's residence at 27 Grant Blvd. until he gave them to the McKee Archives in September 2006.

Photograph was accessioned by the McKee Archives in 1997. Prior custodial history is unknown. The photograph may have belonged to Mary Kathleen Hollies as the initials M.K.H. are written on the back of the photo.

It was located originally in the Commercial Building on 10th Street, owned by Hughes and Co. Wheat City Business College continued to operate until the later 1960s.

The photograph was donated to the Archives in February 2007 by Robert McDonald, who is the nephew of Catherine McDonald, who is pictured in the photograph. Robert McDonald inherited the photograph from his aunt after her death.

History / Biographical
Established as Sewell Camp in 1909, it was renamed after Major-General Sir Sam Hughes, Canada's Minister of Militia and Defence, in 1915. During World War I (1914–1918), more than 38,000 troops of the Canadian Expeditionary Force trained there. Many of the soldiers later distinguished themselves at the battle of Vimy Ridge, in April 1917.
Extensive trench systems, grenade and rifle ranges, and military structures were built in 1915 and 1916. A variety of retail stores on a double-avenued area close to the main camp formed a lively commercial midway. Camp Hughes was dismantled in the 1930s as part of an unemployment relief project.
The Camp Hughes Military Training Site, located at NE 34-10-16 W, 10 kms west of Carberry,
R.M. of North Cypress, was designated Manitoba Provincial Heritage Site No. 82 on April 18, 1994.

Photograph shows the Manitoba Agricultural College located at Treesbank, MB. Photograph shows a large barn-like structure comprised of brick and a wooden silo in the side yard. A steam engine is processing a field crop (corn perhaps) that is then being funneled into the silo.

Manitoba Normal schools were initiated in the early 1880s (1882 for protestant teachers and 1883 for Roman Catholic ones) to meet the demand for teachers in the province's schools. Normal schools were held in Brandon at various locations until the construction of the Brandon Normal School in 1912 under the Roblin government. The Brandon Normal School operated until 1946.
