Photograph is looking northwest from approximately the corner of Rosser Avenue and 8th Street and shows the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Mayfields Ladies Wear, Knowlton's Shoe Shop, Bata Shoe Store and Lucette's Hat Shop.

The original Merchants Bank of Canada building (built 1890) was, at one time, used by St. John's Ambulance.
The second Merchants Bank of Canada building (built 1906) was used as the Brandon branch of the Western Manitoba Regional Library, and now is home to the Brandon Chamber of Commerce (P.E. 23/06/09).
The original Federal Building and Post Office was built in 1891

The Queen's hotel was located on the corner of Rosser Avenue and Tenth Street (Steen & Boyce, 1882. Brandon, Manitoba, Canada and Her Industries. Steen & Boyce Publishers Printers & Binders, 81.). Therefore this photo appears to display Rosser Avenue looking east. P.E. 11/06/09
