Contract for concrete approach from north end to replace east and west timber approaches along Assiniboine Ave. awarded to A.E. Jones and E. Fulcher for $30,590. Oct. 11, 1934. (Brandon Sun). As part of this project a Z-shaped ramp on the west side to Assiniboine Ave for pedestrians replaced wooden stairs to north end.

Cando Contracting Ltd. was found in 1978 by Gord Peters and Rick Hammond. The company began as a small rail line dismantling and salvage company operating out of Brandon, Manitoba. The company changed its name in 2013 to Cando Rail Services Ltd., which supplies railway support services (e.g., engineering and track services, industrial rail services, mechanical services, rail car storage, railway material sales, short line operations, transload services) to industry and the rail sector. The Brandon Asylum for the Insane
Notes
The entire Brandon Asylum complex was completely destroyed. Patients were temporarily housed in the Winter Fair Building (located on the 500 block of 10th Street).
It is reported that the nearly 700 staff and patients were evacuated without any loss of life due to the fire itself (Refvik K. 1991. The Brandon Asylum Fire of 1910. Manitoba History, Number 21, Spring 1991).
