Photograph shows two horse-drawn fire wagons in front of the Brandon Fire Station No. 2. One wagon has a hose, the other wagon has an extension ladder. Fireman Ed Harden is on the reins of the ladder truck (right). Writing on the back of photograph reads: Contributed by Mrs. Ed Harden. 6th Street North, 11th & McTavish Ave, Fire Hall - now School Bd office.
This picture is the same as the negative in the Lawrence Stuckey collection. Stuckey obtained a copy of the photo from George Lepard, father of Linda Bilkoski (nee Lepard).

Stuckey's notes: In foreground is publicity coach of Sells-Floto Circus. On left the long row of domestic fuel coal sheds (many of which were later burned), Hanbury's Mill, elevators & Maple Leaf flour mill. On right elevator & Hanbury Hardware (in 1985 used by Christie School Supply).

Stuckey's notes: Taken just before construction started on overpass. Towerman controlled crossing gates and switches and signals for all routes into and out of station and freight years. My grandfather Samuel Gilmour had for many years operated the previous tower which only operated the cross-ing gates and continued to operated the new tower for several years after it was built c. 1929. It was make obsolete with installation of Centralized Traffic Control in 1965. For better picture of tower see No. 53, engine 2911 in CP steam trains file.
