History / Biographical
Stuckey's notes: Built 1907. Opened 1908. Facing brick from Wisconsin (order 65,000 bricks). I attended this school 1936-1939 Grades 10-12. The building, which is located at 527 Louise Avenue, ceased to be Brandon Collegiate Institute (BCI) in the summer of 1974. It was renamed New Era School on the recommendation of Marion Pye, who was a teacher at BCI in its last years. The name "New Era" was also the name of the BCI yearbook.

Photograph is looking north northeast from roughly the corner of Louise Avenue and 6th Street and shows the front of Brandon Collegiate Institute.

This cairn dedicated Oct. 7, 1928 - erected by The Brandon Rotary Club.

Princess Anne visited Brandon for seven hours on July 15, 1982. Her visit was covered in the July 16, 1982 issue of The Brandon Sun.
Scope and Content
Item is a photograph of Princess Anne's welcome at City Hall. The event was attended by a crowd of 1500 and most of Brandon's dignitaries. The Princes is standing on a small platform on the west side of 9th Street facing spectators and the honor guard from CFB Shilo. A Canadian flag is in the foreground and Mayor Ken Burgess is standing to her right. A number of individuals are standing on the steps behind her.
Notes
The Brandon Sun includes a photograph of this same even taken from the opposite side of the street and from a wider angle.
