Construction of new [Brodie Science Centre].

[Mr. Stuckey put two negatives in the same envelope and taped the prints to the outside. We have separated them and numbered the negatives DA9(1) and DA9(2), and the prints DA9(1a) and DA9(2a).]
A plaque that accompanied the photograph and has since been discarded read: John R. Brodie, 1879-1962. Athlete, industrialist, and philanthropist. Resided in Brandon 1902-1920. Founded Great West Coal Company 1912. Contributed $250,000 to Brandon College, 1961, and left the college ¼ interest in his estate. Negative is located with the photograph.
Item consists of twenty five contact prints. Images include photographs of campus taken from the roof of McMaster Hall as well as photographs of residence rooms, bathrooms and common rooms in McMaster Hall.
Photograph is looking west and shows the north half of McMaster Hall, as well as the walkway between McMaster and the H-Huts. Portions of the Main Dining Room and Darrach Hall are visible in the background.
Donkersloot began working at Brandon University in 1971 as the Clerk of Works. From 1973 until his retirement, he was the Director of Physical Plant.
Custodial History
Photographs were taken by Tom Donkersloot during construction and stored in albums in the Physical Plant H-Hut until they were transfered to the McKee Archives by Doug Duncalf in May 2008.

Named "Imperial" as building was owned by Imperial Oil Co., which had offices on the ground floor. Located on the east side of Tenth Street, south of Princess Avenue.
