The inaugural meeting of the Western Manitoba Home Economics Association (WMHEA) was held in September 1971, with 48 members. In 1973, the WMHEA members voted to affiliate with the Canadian Home Economics Association (CHEA).
Custodial History
Records were in the possession of Margarite Hughes and other officers of the Western Manitoba Home Economic Association prior to their donation to the SJ McKee Archives on July 17, 2010.

Fonds includes: minutes (September 1971 - May 2010); lists of executive members; membership lists; financial records; newsletters; scrapbooks; correspondence; records of special events; miscellaneous publications; and organizational banners.

Portrait of a Brandon YMCA sports team. The players are wearing shorts and tank tops with cleated shoes. Their shirts show a distinctive Brandon YMCA logo. A small ball of some sort is on the ground in front of the YMCA steps to the right of the dog.
Yellow stain in TR corner of mat. Light yellow discoloration running down the complete left edge of the picture, alongside the mat edge. Very light discoloration (apparent graphite mark) along top horizontal register.

Writing on the back of the photograph reads: Scenes. "Y" Point YMCA camp at Pelian Lake. We took train to Belmont and farmer's wagon to Camp. 10.00 per week. I was there 1922-25 as camper and 1925 as leader and leader training camp.
Photograph shows a group of boys seated on a dock along the shoreline at "Y" Point, Pelican Lake. Canoes are tied to the dock and a couple of boys are walking and sitting along the pebble beach.
Photograph shows two separate views. One is of the main entrance of (Old) City Hall on Princess Avenue. The other view shows the ediface of the YMCA building as well as the adjacent St. Paul's United and First United Churches on 8th Street.
