A file of miscellaneous newspaper clippings etc. titled "Brandon University," assembled by Eileen McFadden for the period 1979-1985, is located in the Institutional Files in the Reading Room.
Sub-series consits of programs and related documents from Brandon College and Brandon University convocation services, baccalaureate services, banquets, building openings/dedications, award ceremonies, installations and anniversaries.
Box 1 contains records for the years 1910 to 1967.
Box 2 contains records for the years 1969-2009, as well as the 1975 and 1977 "Convocation Chronicle."

The files for 1923, 1924 and 1925 contain annual class lists stipulating degrees confirmed from McMaster University. These lists include Brandon College students under the heading of Brandon College. The Brandon College listing appears as the last section of the class list.

These are minutes from meetings of the Publications Committee from 1965 to 1968. The Publications Committee was in charge of the operation of The Quill, The Sickle, and the Student Handbook.

Series 8: Brandon College Students Association
The first issue of Connexion was printed in December 1970. The name Connexion was chosen "to symbolize the purpose of the periodical which is to form lines of communication between the administration of the university and the Academic Community." To this end, the publication contained articles released by the Board of Governors, the Senate, the Students' Executive, the Staff Association and other administrative offices of Brandon University. Connexion was published monthly until January-February 1972, when it became a quarterly publication in order to give the Information Office, who published the periodical, more time to focus on other tasks.
Inside Connexion was introduced in February 1972 as a bi-monthly publication for students, faculty and staff. It was dedicated to news, information and reports of interest to the Brandon University community.
Scope and Content
Sub-series consists of copies of Connexion (1970-73), Inside Connexion (1972) and Extension programs (Winter 1989). The Connexion file also has a few pieces of correspondence regarding articles/content in the publication.

File consists of a list of Brandon University Faculty publications/research in progress/papers read/honours received/offices held, a copy of "A Response to the Core Committee Interim Report" by Ron Capelle, and a copy of notes for a lecture by Arthur J.R. File consists of correpondence, tickets, band director Rodney Hudson's timetable, newsletters, an instrumental music program report, a list of string scholarships, an instrument brand names meeting standards list and a list of instruments, addresses, notes on billets, requests for accomodations, an agreement respecting the use of school buildings and news releases.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees came into existence in September 1963, during a convention in Winnipeg when The National Union of Public Employees and the National Union of Public Service Employees merged. In 1964, the Manitoba Division of CUPE (now CUPE Manitoba) held its founding convention in The Pas. At that time, there were 12 affiliated local unions and a total membership of 1,300. The Canadian Union of Public Employees is Canada's largest union. Public service employees formed CUPE to protect their rights, to negotiate wages and working conditions, and to achieve dignity in the workplace.
Custodial History
Fonds was in the possesssion of the Brandon CUPE Office until its donation to the S.J. McKee Archives in 1995.
Scope and Content
Fonds contains general administrative files of the CUPE including agreements, newspaper clippings, correspondence, and convention records. In addition, fonds includes records for many CUPE locals in southwestern and north-central Manitoba. These includes files for each local containing agreements, lists of officials, correspondence and financial records. An extensive body of records dating from 1956 exists for CUPE local #69. This local began its existence as the Brandon Civic Employees Federal Union formed in April 1919.
File consists of a statement on the purpose of the Learning Assistance Centre, correspondence, a proprosed term of agreement between the University of Manitoba and Brandon University, and a proposal for a course in communications skills.
