[St. Joseph’s Academy provided education to the children of Brandon’s Catholic community and was overseen by its own Catholic school board. Multiple yellow accretion marks down right edge of picture. Backing paper is almost completely torn off on the perimeter edges. Frame has multiple abrasions and chips all around frame edge. Bottom two mitre joints are separated.
Steve Repa was born in Winnipeg, MB, in 1937. After graduating from Winnipeg School of Art, he worked as a teacher of ceramics and design. He was a director of Brandon Allied Arts center in 1962 and 1963. Active in various arts organizations - founder of Art Forum, chairman for the Manitoba Art Association, Vice-President of Associated Arts of Manitoba. (1996 inventory)
Mr. J.E. Matthews was a Sunday School Teacher in 1924 at St. Paul's United Church in Brandon, MB. The name "The Invincibles" was only ever used in the church's 1922 Annual Report, however it is most likely that the men in the photograph are members of Matthews' Sunday School class.

St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, which became St. Paul's United Church, and then Central United Church was located at 327 8th Street in Brandon, MB. The original church was destroyed by fire in 1986.
