Mary Emma McIntosh (nee Graham) was born on April 21, 1906 on 36-12-15 SW. She attended Kennedy district school, Wellwood Consolidated School and Brandon Normal School. A teacher from 1927-1931, she married George Herbert "Herb" McIntosh (1909-1993) on October 4, 1929. They farmed in the Carberry area and together they had five children: Yvonne, Gwen, Linda, Muriel and Ian. Mary and Herb were both community minded. Mary ran for political office, was involved in the Manitoba Farmers Union, serving as Women's president, and sat on the Carberry/North Cypress library board. Mary McIntosh died on March 21, 1990 on the farm in the Harte district.

Mary Milroy (nee?) was born on May 29, 1913 in Camboise, England. Her first husband died in England. Mary married George Smith Milroy (1914-2001) and in 1946, she and her daughter Betty from her first marriage, came to Elkhorn, MB, where George was from. Mary and George had four children together: Margaret, Lillian, George and Cynthia. Mary was a devoted homemaker, who spent some time working as a cook for railway gangs. She enjoyed serving in community and church organizations, including the Legion. Mary Milroy died on November 1, 1995 in Elkhorn, MB. She is buried at Elkhorn Cemetery.

Mary Smigelsky Rauliuk (nee Birin) was born on April 4, 1901 at Oakburn, MB. She was the eldest daugher of John & Anna Birin (Bartoszewski), who came to Canada around 1899 from Austria. The Birin's were Polish speaking. The family moved to Brandon around 1901 and lived in the North End, where John bought and farmed land in the "flats."
Mary grew up in Brandon, attending St. Michael's Academy and Park School. She married Paul Smigelsky (1896-1966) around 1921, and together they had a daughter, Jean. For many years Mary was employed by A.E. McKenzie Seeds Ltd. She and her husband also operated Paul's Grocery store for over 25 years. Following the death of her first husband, Mary married Caister Nicholas Rauliuk (1904-1971). Mary was an active member of the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church. Mary Rauliuk died on April 27, 1990 in Brandon, MB. She is buried at Brandon Municipal Cemtery.

Mary Elizabeth Edwards (nee Tweed) was born on April 19, 1897 at Riceville, ON. Within a year of her birth, she and her mother came to Manitoba, to join her father who had already moved west. Mary attended Burns School and then Winnipeg Normal School, graduating in 1917. Over the course of her career she taught at a number of schools, including Otter, Medora, Purple Hill , Thirlstone, Broomhill, Lake Max and Whitewater schools. On January 7, 1920, Mary married Kestle Henry Edwards (1894-1974) in Medora, MB and together the couple had four children: Harvey, Frank, Ralph and Ruth. The family lived on section 35-3-25. Mary was secretary-treasurer of both the Medora Methodist Sunday School and the Royal Templars, taught sunday school and sang in the choir before her marriage. In 1920, she joined the Home Economics Society (later the Women's Institute). She was also a member of the WA. Following her husband's death, Mary left the farm and moved into Medora. Mary Edwards died in 1994. She is buried at Roselawn Cemetery.

Gladys Mary Sharpe (nee Brown) was born on September 10, 1913 at Basswood, MB. She obtained her nurses traning at Brandon and Winnipeg, and worked as an RN from 1938 to 1978. Gladys married Harvey Robert Sharpe (1910-2001) on November 23, 1939, and the couple lived on the Sharpe farm with Harvey's parents, Robert Thom Crawford (1881-1956) and Josie Madeline (nee Hardy) (1880-?). Gladys and Harvey had no children. Gladys Sharpe died on August 1, 2008 in Minnedosa, MB.

Mary Jane "Jean" McDonald Cosgrove (nee ?) was born on April 9, 1892 at Langside near Lucknow, ON. Her family came to Manitoba in 1903, where they lived at Reston for five years before settling in Tilston. Jean attended school in both locations, then worked at the post office and as a telephone switchboard operator, then in Eaton's of Winnipeg before marriang Alexander Grant "AG" Cosgrove (1896-1965) on March 1, 1922 in Brandon. Together they had two sons, Douglas Grant and Kenneth. The Cosgrove's farmed at Lyleton for five years before returning to the Tilston farm. From 1929-1932 they operateda boarding house. In 1933, the couple purchased a British American (BA) Service Station and Tea Room in Oak Lake, where they were also agents for Greyhousnd Bus Lines. They retired and moved to Brandon in 1964, for health reasons. In Brandon, Jean lived at Princess Towers and then Central Park Lodge.
Jean was always active in the community. She was a Passt Noble Grand of the Rebekah's and received her Life Membership Certificate from Crocus Lodge No. 8, Virden. She enjoyed golfing, curling and bridge. After the Second World War, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion in Oak Lake. She was a long time member of the United Church. Jean Cosgrove died on January 13, 1990 in Brandon, MB. She is buried at Brandon Municipal Cemtery.

Kathleen Maida Winters (nee Gosling) was born on March 6, 1899 in the Maida Barracks, Aldershot in South East England. Her faather George Henry Gosling was a Color Sargeant in the Royal Sussex Regiment. Her father died in the Boer War and she was raised in Dublin, Ireland. Kathleen came to Canada in August 1921 and took Normal School in Moosomin, SK. Kathleen married Abraham Albert "Abie" Winters (1903-1978) in 1929, continuing to teach in country schools. The couple did not have children. Her husband sold their farm near Fleming, SK in 1951, and the couple moved to Fleming, although they kept a quarter section of land until 1974. Abie suffered a stroke and the couple moved to Elkhorn in 1976. Kathleen Winters died on August 9, 1990 in Elkhorn, MB. She is buried at Fleming Cemetery in Saskatchewan.

Guy Masson "Bay" Smith was born on June 7, 1899 in Glenboro, MB. He graduated from Glenboro High School and then relieved his father in the post office while the latter served on a Military Tribunal. Bay enlisted with the Royal Air Force in 1918. For a short time he was the manager of a cream buying station in Glenboro before moving to Corning, SK in 1924, where he was an agent for Imperial Oil. In 1929, Bay returned to Glenboro to take over the Post Office duties from his mother, Elizabeth Alice Smith. Smith was appointed postmaster in 1950, and continued in that position until he retired in 1965. Under his leadership, a new post office was built in 1954; upon his retirement he sold the Smith Block and Post Office building. Smith married Mayme McKnight (1899-1977) in December 1923 and together they raised two children: Tannys and Robert.
Bay was active in community life. He was a charter member of the local Kiwanis Club and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He served long tenures on the Rink Committee, the Glenboro branch of the Red Cross and the Glenboro Board of Trade. He was a past president of the Junior and Senior Bands, was Secretary of the South Cypress Centennial Committee, and treasurer of the annual Fun Fair. He was a founding member of and helped design the local course at the Glenboro Golf Club. Bay Smith died on September 16, 1997 in Glenboro, MB.

Hazel B. Smith was born on May 14, 1906 in Toronto, ON and moved to a farm south of Carberry with her family when she was 2 years old. The family then moved to Arizona, MB, then back to Carberry while she was quite young. Hazel attended country school and then school in Carberry. She took nurses training at Winnipeg General Hospital but was unable to finish her second year due to health problems. Although unable to complete her training, Hazel helped with maternity cases and did some home nursing after returning to Carberry in the 1930s. In the years after the Second World War she worked in a doctor's office. She also worked at the Children's Hospital (BC?), a logger's hospital at Alert Bay, spent two years at Fox Memorial Hospital, then moved to Sioux Lookout. Upon returning to Manitoba she worked with the Inuit and then spent nine years at Grace Hospital after she and her mother settled in Selkirk, MB. Arthritis forced her to change occupations and in 1967 Hazel was hired as custodian for the then new Carberry Library. She retired in 1969, and was replaced by Audrey Harburn. Hazel never married. Hazel Smith died on May 3, 1996 in Winnipeg, MB. She is buried at the family plot in Carberry, MB.

Margaret Winnifred Smith (nee Scarrow) was born November 7, 1902 in Rathwell, MB. She took her schooling at Rathwell and became a telephone operator. She then went to Vancouver and then back to Winnipeg where she received comptometer instruction at Success Business College. Following her studies, she worked at Speirs-Parnell (which became Westons). Whilie in Winnipeg she joined the United Church Central Congregational Choir and the CNR Choral Society. She met Henry Bernard "Harry" Smith (?-1974) at Speirs-Parnell and they were married in 1928. They had no children.
When Harry joined the RCAF in 1939, Margaret went with him to Vancouver and then Saskatoon. They were living in Ladner, BC at the end of the Second World War. While in Saskatoon Margaret was president of the Airmen's Wive Group, and a member of Knox United Church choir. In ladner she was choir leader in the United Church. In 1945, the couple moved to Neepawa, where Harry started a business with Fred Anderson called Smith and Anderson Radio Electric. In Neepawa, Margaret joined the United Church choir, was president of the Missionary Society and the Business & Professional Women's Club, and a member of UCW. Margaret Smith died on January 26, 1999 in Neepawa, MB. She is buried at Riverside Cemetery.

Vella May Smith (nee McLean) was born on November 25, 1900 in Golden Stream, MB. She attended Golden Stream School. She was briefly employed as a stenographer for the Bank of Montreal before marring Guildord James Smith (1887-1961) in Gladstone in 1922. The couple lived in Gladstone until 1924, when they moved to the Lidstone district. On the farm, they raised four children: James Alexander, Nina, Sheila and Irene. In 1957, Vella took a position as a cook in Flin Flon, then in 1959 she began working as a cook for the CNR. She remained in that position until 1961. Vella retired in 1965. Vella enjoyed music, particularly playing the piano, gardening, sewing, and was a skilled horsewoman. In her early years, she acted as a community nurse. She was a member of the Lidstone Women's Institute and the Merry Mixers senior's group. Vella Smith died on December 31, 1991 in Swan River, MB. She is buried at Birchwood Cemetery.

Robert Alexander Smith was born on March 25, 1901 at Madford-Ingelow, MB. He attended Matheson school and farmed in the Ingelow district. The family farm, 2-12-17, was sold in 1951, and Robert moved to Winnipeg where he was employed with the International Harvester Company and Triange Auto Supply. Robert met Martha Buchanon Thorburn (1917-2010) when they were both Scout leaders and actively involved with Chalmers United Church in Winnipeg. The couple married in 1955, and together they had one son, Alexander. Robert and Martha retired in 1971, and moved to Douglas, MB. Robert Smith died on November 30, 1983 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Carberry Plains Cemetery.

Maude Marie MacDonald (nee Evans) was born on May 23, 1910 in Indian River, Ontario. In 1913, her family moved to Manitoba, settling in the Brookdale area. She attended school in Brookdale and at Brandon College, graduating with a BA in 1930. After graduating from Normal School in Saskatoon, she taught at Justice, Brookdale, Brandon, Kemnay, Ochre River and Carberry, before retiring in 1971. Marie married George MacDonald (1913-1989), who she met while teaching in Ochre River, in June 1937. The couple had three children: Janet, Karen and Donald. In 1951, Marie and George bought Maxhame, a farm near Brookdale. She continued to live on the farm after George died. Marie loved gardening and reading, and in her later years, she enjoyed travelling. Marie MacDonald died on January 25, 1996 in Winnipeg, MB and is buried in Carberry Plains Cemetery.
