Albert Earl Henderson was born on September 29, 1898 in Boissevain, MB. He attended Caranton school, Boissevain high school and the University of Manitoba, where he studied agriculture. Earl married Alberta Mary Roe (1902-1977) on October 17, 1924, and the couple had three children: Douglas, Lois and Amy . He farmed in the Cranton district northwest of Boissevain until 1971, when he and his wife retired to town. Earl and Alberta were very active in lapidary. Their interest was sparked in 1954, after stopping at a rock shop in Montana on the way home from a holiday. The couple began turning stones into jewlery while Earl was still farming, first in their basement and then in a shop in the yard. They moved into making items out of plastics in the 1970s. Their rock shop was the first of its kind in Manitoba. Earl took an active part in church and community affairs. He served on the Caranton school board for many years, as Noble Grand of the IOOF, as a councillor for the RM of Morton from 1962-1971, and was a member of the original hospital board for 20 years. Earl was a member of the Beckoning Hills Activity Club, St. Paul's United Church, and enjoyed activities and friends at the Drop-In Centre. Earl Henderson died on February 17, 1986 in Folsom, California. Earl had been a winter resident of the Lost Dutchman Trailer Resort at Apache Junction, Arizona, and was visiting his niece in Folsom when the death occurred. He is buried at Boissevain and Morton Cemetery.

The original tapes from the Westman Oral History project were deposited in the Brandon Public Library. Copies of these originals were made by Margaret Pollex of the Brandon University Language Lab at the request of Eileen McFadden, University Archivist in the early 1990s. These copies compose the collection held in the McKee Archives.

Gordon Lloyd Lovering was born on September 10, 1920 in Coldwater, Simcoe County, ON. He grew up in Toronto. During the Depression he left school to support his family, and then in 1941, he joined the RCAF. His training took him to Rivers, MB, which inspired him to want to live on the Prairies. He was posted in England until 1945, and was a Legionaire until his death. After the war, Lloyd attended Bible School. He married Marion Ramsay Cunningham (1921-2007) in 1947, and the couple lived in various small communities in Ontario. In 1953, Lloyd attended Queen's University, graduating in 1958. He was subsequently ordained as a United Church minister. In 1961, the couple with their four children - Mary, Peter, Ruth and John - moved to Saskatchewan. In 1970, they settled in southwestern Manitoba and in 1978, he came to Central United Church in Brandon, MB. He remained in Brandon for the rest of his life. Rev. Lloyd Lovering died on August 6, 2003 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Del-Win Cemetery.

Edward Lloyd Bowler was born on November 8, 1903 in the R.M. of Rockwood to John and Annie Bowler.
While at Brandon College, Bowler was active in student affairs. He was twice elected Treasurer of the BCSA, was a main stay on the College soccer team, a tennis enthusiast and also became the first Managing Editor to make Publications a paying proposition. Bowler graduated with the Class of 1931 before returning to Brandon College in 1932, to persue post graduate work in Geology.
His M.A. dissertation, entitled "The Geologic and Economic Aspects of Copper," was submitted to McMaster University in April 1932. At some point following the completion of his M.A., Bowler married Kathleen Addrene (b. 1911, d. December 23, 1996) and moved to British Columbia.
E. Lloyd Bowler died on February 23, 1962, after a lengthy illness in the Trail Tadanac Hospital. He is buried in the Broadview Cemetery in Saskatchewan.
Custodial History
Mr. Visser a native of Thunder Bay, Ontario acquired this album at purchase through a stamp collection vendor. He recognized Brandon College in some of the photographs and took the initiative to donate the album to the Archives. Internal evidence within the album suggests that the album appears to have been created by Edward Lloyd Bowler (Class of 1931). We have made an administrative decision to use Bowler's name for the collection.

This album contains several photographs of faculty and staff involved in related events at Brandon College in the late 1920s.

2.13 Edward Lloyd Bowler Collection
Fredrick Lloyd Jones was born on October 23, 1905 near Killarney, MB. Lloyd married Evelyne G. Jennings (1907-1991) in 1932 and together they had four children: Ruth, Lawrence, Marjorie and Olive. He farmed near Ninga until 1950, when the family moved to Winnipeg. In Winnipeg, Lloyd worked at Eaton's as Santa Claus and as a furniture salesman. He later sold real estate. Lloyd was a talented artist in wood and stone and held membership in the Manitoba Society of Artists, the Rock of Ages Lapidary Club and the Manitoba Camera Club. He was also an active member of First Presbyterian Church. Lloyd Jones died on June 14, 1986 in Winnipeg, MB. He is buried at Ninga Cemetery.
