Tranna Florinda Rogers (nee Calvert) was born December 29, 1905 in Sidney, MB. Tranna attended Normal School and then held a number of teaching positions in the period 1926-1954. Tranna married Clarence Park Rogers (1902-1991) on July 3, 1954. They did not have any children. The couple lived briefly in Sidney before moving to Carberry. From 1965-1967, Tranna worked at Modern Bakery. Tranna Rogers died on October 20, 1985 in Brandon, MB. She is buried at Carberry Plains Cemetery.

Lorne Melville Rogers was born on May 24, 1910 in Brandon, MB. He attended Mount Vernon School, before taking over the family farm. Lorne was on the Mount Vernon School Board for a number of years and also Forrest Elementary. He was a member of the Manitoba Pool Elevator and served on the local board. In his earlier years, he played the violin in a band for many Red Cross programs and dances in the war years. Grace Ellen Howard was born on January 10, 1910 in Stony Mountain, MB. The family moved to the "Rugby Farm" near Forrest in 1924. Grace completed her schooling at Rugby School.
Grace and Lorne married on November 20, 1934 and together had two children, Doris and Norman. The couple farmed the Rogers family farm together. Grace was active in the St. George's Red Cross during the war years and St. George's ACW. She was also a member of the Forrest Legion Auxiliary, and enjoyed flower gardening, sports, music and cards. Grace and Lorne retired to Brandon in 1983, where they enjoyed senior activities together, as well as travelling. Grace Rogers died on March 10, 2001 in Brandon, MB. Lorne Rogers died on December 19, 2001 in Brandon, MB. They are both buried at Rosewood Memorial Gardens.

Roy Gordon Coates was born on July 23, 1920 in Brandon, MB. He attended King George, Earl Haig and Central schools in the city. Following school, he began a career with the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) in 1939. Due to illness he was forced to retire in 1979. Roy married Thelma Cunningham (1922-1949) in 1942. In 1952, he married Norma Jean Orser (1932-?) in Souris, MB and together they had a daughter, Brenda Colleen. Roy was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks, Local 1113, the Orange Lodge, Sons of Ulster No. 1512, St. Paul's United Church, and later First Presbyterian Church where he served as superindent of Sunday school. He enjoyed gof, fishing and music. In retirment he became active with the Hillcrest Adult Day Club. Roy Coates died on July 12, 1985 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Brandon Municipal Cemetery.

Thomas Roy Bailey was born on September 5, 1915 on the family farm in the RM of North Cypress. He attended school in the PRosser District before taking over the farm in 1945. In 1970, he hosted the Royal Family on the family farm. Roy married Nora Elizabeth Froom (1921-1986) on October 11, 1941 and together they had three sons: Alan, Brian and Douglas. Following Nora's death, Roy married Edith Lillian Oliver Ranson (1915-2002) in 1988.
Roy spent his lifetime contributing in various ways to his community, in both Carberry and the North Cypress. He served on Municipal Council, Carberry Development Corporation, Vegetable Growers Association, Hospital Board and United Church Board of Stewards and Session. He took a leadership role in starting the growing of potatoes in the area, constructing the Carberry Plains Lodge, the Carberry Plains Recreation Centre and also helped to design the Sandhills Golf Course. Roy was a life member of the Oddfellows and Rebekahs. He was inducted into the Mantioba Agricultural Hall of Game and awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Carberry Chamber of Commerce. He was actively involved with his family, the drop in centre, and enjoyed playing golf. T. Roy Bailey died on January 30, 2011 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Carberry Plains Cemetery.

History / Biographical
Churches of the Prairies was a project undertaken by Doug Brolund and his brother. The project involved gathering information on the churches of the prairies (Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta). They were interested in the time between 1800 to 1925. Their aim was to collect historical, architectural and photographic material, as well as information concerning the people involved in the building, the ministry and in the using of the churches. The information was to be collected, put into order and made available and retrievable to anyone wishing to use it.
The purpose of the bank of information was to be the publication of a book or books. The Brolunds' believed in the importance of preserving our heritage, of honouring those who were involved in the building of the churches and believed the material would prove to be invaluable in the future to other organizations. To gather information, they sent out letters asking for any information, photographs, news clippings and stories on the churches of the prairies. The project ended when Doug Brolund was left on his own to complete the work. He concluded that it was simply too much for one person to accomplish.
Custodial History
In the early 1980s Doug Brolund donated the text and photographs that had been assembled to the McKee Archives. He was convinced that the material was too valuable to simply discard.
Scope and Content
The collection consists of information (such as news clippings, church histories, correspondence and for Saskatchewan and Manitoba, inventory site forms) on and/or photographs of various churches across Canada. The files for Alberta; British Columbia; Ontario, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Quebec are quite small and generally contain pages from old calendars and newsclippings, although there are a few photographs (some of them unidentified) and church histories. The Alberta file also contains a copy of the Provincial Register of Historic Sites ca. 1979.
The file for Saskatchewan contains information on and/or photographs of churches in the following towns/areas: Kennell, Castleton, McAulay, McLean, Neudorf, Eatonia, Eston, Carnduff, Wheatland and Carievale. There are also photographs of Welwyn Church, Trinity United, Florence School, Coshen? School and Wamphray Presbyterian (RM of Edenwold). The file also contains the finding aid for Saskatchewan developed by the project members.
The material on Manitoba churches is the most extensive. There is a copy of the finding aid for Manitoba developed by the project members. The files are arranged alphabetically, with separate files for Brandon, Portage la Prairie and Winnipeg. James Douglas Wall was born in Brandon, Manitoba on March 22, 1933, the only son of James Jesse Wall and Audrey May Simm. James Wall grew up in Brandon, attending public schools in the city and graduating from Brandon Collegiate Institute. At an early age, he became a member of the 82nd Squadron Royal Canadian Air Cadets. In the summer of 1950, he earned his pilot's wings through the Air Cadets Scholarship Program. Wall has been employed with the Brandon Flying Club and has earned a commercial pilot's licence and an aircraft maintenance engineer's licence. In 1957, he became manager of Maple Leaf Aviation Limited. Wall is a long time member of the South West branch of the Manitoba Genealogical Society, Inc. of which he has served as president for several terms. Wall has been married to his wife Elizabeth since 1957. They have one son, David. James Douglas Wall died in Brandon, Manitoba on February 11, 2011.

These items were acquired by Wall in his capacity as President of the Southwest Branch of the Manitoba Genealogical Society. Custodial history prior to their acquisition by Wall and his donation of them to the S.J. McKee Archives is unknown.
Scope and Content
Collection contains 35 photographs of Baldur, Manitoba taken ca. 1900. These photographs contain images of buildings, street scenes, and residents (individuals and groups) of Baldur, Manitoba. Collection also includes a copy of Christie's Map of the City of Brandon ca. 1900.
The Douglas Women's Institute was established in 1948. Throughout its existence, the Institute undertook a variety of community based fund raising and educational activities, including the sponsorship of courses in first-aid, home nursing and sewing. The Douglas WI also provided a public space for women in the Douglas district to meet and engage in educational, social and political activities.
Custodial History
The records were in the possession of officers of the Douglas Women's Institute prior to their donation to the S.J. McKee Archives in April 2006 and May 2008, following the disbandment of the organization.
Scope and Content
Fonds consists of scrapbooks and Annual Programs assembled by members of the Douglas Women's Institute. Fonds also contain clippings related to local, provincial, national and international themes of interest to the members of the Institute. The scrapbooks are particularly strong on community stories directly connected to the Douglas Women's Institute and the Douglas-Carberry district including anniversaries, biographical sketches, obituaries, weddings and family related themes.
