History / Biographical
Tranna Florinda Rogers (nee Calvert) was born December 29, 1905 in Sidney, MB. Tranna attended Normal School and then held a number of teaching positions in the period 1926-1954. Tranna married Clarence Park Rogers (1902-1991) on July 3, 1954. They did not have any children. The couple lived briefly in Sidney before moving to Carberry. From 1965-1967, Tranna worked at Modern Bakery. Tranna Rogers died on October 20, 1985 in Brandon, MB. She is buried at Carberry Plains Cemetery.
Custodial History
As part of the Westman Oral History Collection, this collection was accessioned by the McKee Archives in 1998. The original tapes from the Westman Oral History project were deposited in the Brandon Public Library. Copies of these originals were made by Margaret Pollex of the Brandon University Language Lab at the request of Eileen McFadden, University Archivist in the early 1990s. These copies compose the collection held in the McKee Archives.

History / Biographical
Lorne Melville Rogers was born on May 24, 1910 in Brandon, MB. He attended Mount Vernon School, before taking over the family farm. Lorne was on the Mount Vernon School Board for a number of years and also Forrest Elementary. He was a member of the Manitoba Pool Elevator and served on the local board. In his earlier years, he played the violin in a band for many Red Cross programs and dances in the war years. Grace Ellen Howard was born on January 10, 1910 in Stony Mountain, MB. The family moved to the "Rugby Farm" near Forrest in 1924. Grace completed her schooling at Rugby School. Grace and Lorne married on November 20, 1934 and together had two children, Doris and Norman. The couple farmed the Rogers family farm together. Grace was active in the St. George's Red Cross during the war years and St. George's ACW. She was also a member of the Forrest Legion Auxiliary, and enjoyed flower gardening, sports, music and cards. Grace and Lorne retired to Brandon in 1983, where they enjoyed senior activities together, as well as travelling. Grace Rogers died on March 10, 2001 in Brandon, MB. Lorne Rogers died on December 19, 2001 in Brandon, MB. They are both buried at Rosewood Memorial Gardens.

History / Biographical
Roy Gordon Coates was born on July 23, 1920 in Brandon, MB. He attended King George, Earl Haig and Central schools in the city. Following school, he began a career with the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) in 1939. Due to illness he was forced to retire in 1979. Roy married Thelma Cunningham (1922-1949) in 1942. In 1952, he married Norma Jean Orser (1932-?) in Souris, MB and together they had a daughter, Brenda Colleen. Roy was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks, Local 1113, the Orange Lodge, Sons of Ulster No. 1512, St. Paul's United Church, and later First Presbyterian Church where he served as superindent of Sunday school. He enjoyed gof, fishing and music. In retirment he became active with the Hillcrest Adult Day Club. Roy Coates died on July 12, 1985 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Brandon Municipal Cemetery.

History / Biographical
Thomas Roy Bailey was born on September 5, 1915 on the family farm in the RM of North Cypress. He attended school in the PRosser District before taking over the farm in 1945. In 1970, he hosted the Royal Family on the family farm. Roy married Nora Elizabeth Froom (1921-1986) on October 11, 1941 and together they had three sons: Alan, Brian and Douglas. Following Nora's death, Roy married Edith Lillian Oliver Ranson (1915-2002) in 1988. Roy spent his lifetime contributing in various ways to his community, in both Carberry and the North Cypress. He served on Municipal Council, Carberry Development Corporation, Vegetable Growers Association, Hospital Board and United Church Board of Stewards and Session. He took a leadership role in starting the growing of potatoes in the area, constructing the Carberry Plains Lodge, the Carberry Plains Recreation Centre and also helped to design the Sandhills Golf Course. Roy was a life member of the Oddfellows and Rebekahs. He was inducted into the Mantioba Agricultural Hall of Game and awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Carberry Chamber of Commerce. He was actively involved with his family, the drop in centre, and enjoyed playing golf. T. Roy Bailey died on January 30, 2011 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Carberry Plains Cemetery.
