Cando Contracting Ltd. was found in 1978 by Gord Peters and Rick Hammond. The company began as a small rail line dismantling and salvage company operating out of Brandon, Manitoba. The company changed its name in 2013 to Cando Rail Services Ltd., which supplies railway support services (e.g., engineering and track services, industrial rail services, mechanical services, rail car storage, railway material sales, short line operations, transload services) to industry and the rail sector. Photograph shows Rosser Avenue in its incipient stages. Canvas tents are mixed amongst wooden structures. The James Smart Hardware store, Winter & O'Neail Groceries & Provisions, and the law office of F.G.A. Henderson in the Molesworth Block can be seen on the north side of Rosser Avenue. A street sign designating 6th Street can be seen below the Winter & O'Neail sign. A horse and buggie is traveling down the dirt track that is Rosser Avenue. Groups of men can be seen congregating outside some of the local businesses.

"Radio towers of CKX on city hall grounds were 150 feet tall; Studio and transmitter were on the east side of city hall." - Fred McGuinness collection (20-2009).
This is likely the same cigar factory mentioned by Barker (pages 110 & 179) as being owned by Barney Isman in 1907 and closing in 1917.
Building was the original Bank of Montreal
For many years this building housed the Carlton Café, prop. Sam Wong, later his sons Wesley, Walker and Charles. After Carlton, building became Trifons Pizza.
