Scope and Content
Photograph shows a wood-framed bungalow with ornamental woodwork on the porch and roof. The home has a wooden picket fence. A woman and child are seated on one side of the ballustrade and a woman in an overcoat and hat is seated on either side of the ballustrade. Neighbouring homes are also visible.
The original Merchants Bank of Canada building (built 1890) was, at one time, used by St. John's Ambulance.
The second Merchants Bank of Canada building (built 1906) was used as the Brandon branch of the Western Manitoba Regional Library, and now is home to the Brandon Chamber of Commerce (P.E. 23/06/09).
The original Federal Building and Post Office was built in 1891

Built 1906-07; Former Merchants Bank of Canada; Library moved to former Co-op store on 7th Street & Princess Ave in 1984; This building became the Brandon Chamber of Commerce in September of 1985; Façade to remain as heritage building, interior renovations to be conducted with government financing.
