This building, demolished in 1971 or 1972, was used by Western Grocers for many years, and then Richard (Dick) Town used it as a vegetable warehouse during the last ten years or so it was standing. Dick does not remember when it was built (it had no date) but remembers its first tenant as being Borbridge Harness, a harness manufacturer. (From L.A.S. conversation with R. Town, June 13, 1977.)
Borbridge Western Ltd. had extensive contracts with Canadian Army Cavalry during WWI.

The original Merchants Bank of Canada building (built 1890) was, at one time, used by St. John's Ambulance.
The second Merchants Bank of Canada building (built 1906) was used as the Brandon branch of the Western Manitoba Regional Library, and now is home to the Brandon Chamber of Commerce (P.E. 23/06/09).
The original Federal Building and Post Office was built in 1891

Built 1906-07; Former Merchants Bank of Canada; Library moved to former Co-op store on 7th Street & Princess Ave in 1984; This building became the Brandon Chamber of Commerce in September of 1985; Façade to remain as heritage building, interior renovations to be conducted with government financing.

[Mr. Stuckey wrote on envelope "3 negs." but there is only one in the envelope.]
Muir started as a clerk for Coombs & Stewart in 1882, went into business for himself 1888 and was still operating in 1938. He closed his 6th Street store in June of 1945 (Brandon Sun).
Muir was a good friend of my pioneer grandfather, Sam Gilmour, who lived a block up the street, and as a small boy I spent many nickels in this store (LAS).

Located on the west side of the 100 block of 6th St.
This photo presented by Wm. Muir to Martin Kavanagh and donated to collection of Assiniboine Historical Society.
Photograph shows Western Motors Ltd. on the southwest corner of 10th Street and Princess Avenue. Anglo gas station is part of the car shop, which sells GM, Chevrolet, and Oldsmobiles.
Hutchings' Drugs is on the ground floor of the Hughes Building on the northwest corner of 10th Street and Princess. Manufacturers Life occupies the second storey.
Photograph shows the northeast corner of 10th Street and Princess Avenue. OK Used Cars - Western Motors Ltds - used car lot and a building containing The Specialty Shop and another business are pictured. The exposed wall of the Brown Block has been painted over.
Photograph shows a three-storey wood framed house with a wrap-around porch, second storey bay window, and four gables.

Photograph is stamped on the back: Hughes & Co. Ltd., 1009 Princess Ave., Brandon, Man. Location has been identified as the southwest side of 10th Street.
