Photograph shows a reception of the King and Queen of Siam at the Winnipeg Railway Station by Manitoba dignitaries. L to R: Major M.Turner, Hon. J.D. McGregor, Premier John Bracken (1922-1943), Their Majesties the King and Queen of Siam, Miss Phyllis Webb, and Mayor Ralph Webb (1925-1927, 1930-1934).

Scope and Content
Photograph shows railroad tracks (presumably Great Northern Railway tracks near Bunclody) during winter. Also visible are an elevator, outbuildings and part of a train sitting beside the tracks.
Commissions dealing with transportation by rail and by sea were important to Manitoba Pool Elevators, as the cost and effiecincy of transport affected the cost of service to its members.

Small pamphlet containing photo essay
History / Biographical
Established as Sewell Camp in 1909, it was renamed after Major-General Sir Sam Hughes, Canada's Minister of Militia and Defence, in 1915. During World War I (1914–1918), more than 38,000 troops of the Canadian Expeditionary Force trained there. Many of the soldiers later distinguished themselves at the battle of Vimy Ridge, in April 1917.
Extensive trench systems, grenade and rifle ranges, and military structures were built in 1915 and 1916. A variety of retail stores on a double-avenued area close to the main camp formed a lively commercial midway. Camp Hughes was dismantled in the 1930s as part of an unemployment relief project.
The Camp Hughes Military Training Site, located at NE 34-10-16 W, 10 kms west of Carberry,
R.M. of North Cypress, was designated Manitoba Provincial Heritage Site No. 82 on April 18, 1994.

McGuinness wrote about Camp Hughes and how he acquired the pamphlet in a Viewpoint column in the November 1, 2001 edition of the Brandon Sun. A copy of the article is with the pamphlet. St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, which became St. Paul's United Church, and then Central United Church was located at 327 8th Street in Brandon, MB. The original church was destroyed by fire in 1986.

One lists the names of the architectural firm, the engineers, contractiors and subcontractors involved with the project. The Brandon Armoury was built in 1907. The extension on the southside was built in 1937.

Photograph is looking northwest from the east side of 11th Street. It shows the back and east side of the Brandon Armoury, which is located on the at 1116 Victoria Avenue.
Postcard was donated to the McKee Archives by Allen Drysdale, archivist at Beautiful Plains Archives in October 2011. Drysdale received the postcard as part of a larger donation to his archives.

Brandon Hardware Co. Ltd. founded in 1882, making it one of Brandon's earliest mercantiles. It was incorporated in 1902, and their location on Rosser Avenue at the corner of 7th Street was constructed in 1903. For a number of years, J.B. Curran was the managing director. The building was destroyed by fire in 1983.

Photograph of spectators gathered to watch the Royal North-West Mounted Police (RNWMP) horse barns on fire. The barns were located in the Winter Fair Building on the Fair Grounds.
Postcard was sent to Chuck Wilson's aunt, Mrs. W.M. Wilson in Creelman, SK by the McKenzie Seed Company in 1912. Chuck Wilson found the postcard in some of his aunt's papers in 2009 and mailed it to the McKee Archives.

Item consists of a colour postcard of the McKenzie Seed Company building located on the west side of the 100 block of 9th Street. The card was sent to Mrs. W.M. Wilson of Creelman, SK to acknowledge her order.
