Photograph shows street view of intersection of the 000 block of 8th Street and Rosser Avenue. Horse and buggies are travelling on both roads. Businesses on the east side of 8th Street from Pacific to Rosser Avenues are clearly visible and include: a Lunch Room (likely Aagaard's Lunch Counter), the Hotel Imperial Annex, Liverpool House (a boarding house), R.S. Thompson and Company Real Estate Office (Land Office), a barber shop (likely J. Coulter's), Frank Gowen photography studio, and Fleming's Drug Store. A possible street fair is in progress on Rosser Avenue. One man is surrounded by a crowd adjacent to the Fleming Block, another man stands on a soap box in the middle of the intersection, while a third man is standing behind a booth. Building construction appears to be happening on the west corner of 7th Street and Rosser Avenue.

History / Biographical
On 16 November 1906, Manitoba was hit by a severe winter storm that began that Thursday evening and extended through the weekend. The Brandon Daily Sun ("Storm Extends Over a Large Territory," 17 Nov. 1906, 1) reported that rail and telegraph services had been disrupted, country roads were impassable, and business in town was at a stand still. Following the weekend, the daily reported the blizzard was one of the greatest in recent memory. CPR trains had been caught in drifts by Carberry and an express car had caught fire and was destroyed ("Worst Storm in Many Years," Brandon Daily Sun, 19 Nov. 1906, 1).

Violet Leween Bernice Drysdale (nee Singleton) was born on March 27, 1925 on the farm at SW 32-16-14 in the RM of Landsdowne. She attended Glenholm School for grade school and Arden for high school. During her school years she enjoyed participating in festivals, concerts and sports, especially baseball. Leween taught as a permit teacher at Tobermore and Molesworth schools, and then afte a year at Normal School, she taught as a licensed teacher at Salisbury and Inkerman schools. Leween married Charles M Drysdale (1919-2004) on March 27, 1948. Together they had two children, Arleen and Morris. The couple farmed four miles east of Neepawa, MB for over fifty years. They had a mixed farm with grain, cattle, chickens and a large garden. Leween particularly enjoyed flowers and fruit trees. She was active in the community, belonging to the Union and Salisbury Women's Institute. She sang in the Inkerman United Church Choir, was a 4-H leader for many years, and entered her handiwork and garden produce in local fairs. Following a stroke in 1999, Leween lived at East View Lodge. Leween Drysdale died on February 6, 2005 in Neepawa, MB. She is buried at Riverside Cemetery.
Custodial History
As part of the Westman Oral History Collection, this collection was accessioned by the McKee Archives in 1998. The original tapes from the Westman Oral History project were deposited in the Brandon Public Library. Copies of these originals were made by Margaret Pollex of the Brandon University Language Lab at the request of Eileen McFadden, University Archivist in the early 1990s. These copies compose the collection held in the McKee Archives.

John Tully McKenzie was born on August 17, 1903 in the Tremaine district near Rapid City, MB. He attended Tremaine School, Rapid City School and then completed a diploma in Agriculture at the University of Manitoba in 1923. Tully married Ethel Marion Bridge (1906-1977) in 1930 and together they had four children: Lois, Marjorie, Ken and Beth. The McKenzie's farmed for the next 30 years. During this time Tully was active in the community, serving as a secretary treasurer and chairman of the school board, elder and trustee of Hunterville United Church, secretary of the Mantioba Pool Elevator Board, the Manitoba Federation of Agriculture, Rapid City Agricultural Socieity, was founder of the local 4-H Club, formed the Rapid City Film Council, and was a charter member of the Minnedosa Credit Union. In 1960, Tully and Ethel moved to Brandon, where Tully was employed with various agricultural service organizations.
In 1970, Tully served as the chairman of the Centennial Pioneer Committee, that was formed to honour pioneers of the Westman Region. He also was a charter member of the Assiniboine Historical Society and contributed significantly to the establishment of the Daly House Museum. He and Ethel also researched, wrote and published a book entitled "It's Time to Remember, 1874-1974," a history of the Tremaine community. Tully was also a founder of the Mantioba Agriculture Hall of Fame, calling the intial meetings and serving as the first chairman of its Provisional Board. In 1990, he was inducted into the Hall for his contribution to agriculture and the preservation of Manitoba heritage. Tully McKenzie died on March 28, 1992 in Winnpeg, MB. He is buried at Brandon Municipal Cemetery.

Postcard was sent to Chuck Wilson's aunt, Mrs. W.M. Wilson in Creelman, SK by the McKenzie Seed Company in 1912. Chuck Wilson found the postcard in some of his aunt's papers in 2009 and mailed it to the McKee Archives.
