Gerald Norman McLeod was born on August 15, 1910 in Renfrew County, Ontario. As a boy his parents moved to Bounty, SK to try farming. In 1927, they moved to Pine Falls, MB where Gerald lived for a number of years and worked in many capacities for the Manitoba Paper Company. In 1943, he enlisted in the army and served overseas with the Royal Canadian Signal Corps until returning to Canada to marry Joan Louise (Woods) Woolverton (1912-2013) in 1946. Upon his return he got a job working with the National Film Board. In 1950, the couple moved to Glenboro, MB where they lived and raised their children: Gail Woolverton, David Woolverton, Sheldon McLeod and Ann McLeod. Gerald retired from the National Film Board in 1973. In retirement he continued activities in photography and gardening. He also canvassed for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Gerald McLeod died on October 8, 1995 in Glenboro, MB. He is buried at Pine Falls Community Cemetery.

Item is an audiocassette tape containing an interview with Gerald McLeod, that he entitled "Root, Hog or Die." The interview covers various jobs Gerald held during his life, including various positions at a lumber mill, cutting firewood with his father, his time as an engineer’s assistant, fighting forest fires as a volunteer and his first years working with the National Film Board. The interview also covers to great extent his political views during the 1930’s and his association with the CCF. He also speaks a great deal about the financial destitution people faced during his time in Saskatchewan and later in Manitoba during the Depression. Interviewer is Irene Brown.

Francis Sutherland "Frank" MacKay was born on March 9, 1898 on his family's farm at SE 3-7-16 near Wawanesa, MB. He started school in 1904, and attended Northfield for the first eight years, before taking one year of high school at Hiltonmye. In 1918, he took a course at Engineer's school, Fort Gary. Frank lived the majority of his life on the farm, farming first with his father, and then on his own following his father's death in 1941.
Frank married Jane (Jean) Tannock Glover (1915-1976), and together they had four children: Francine Elizabeth, William John, Garrie Sutherland and Donald James. The family was active in 4-H work, community and church activities and the Masonic Lodge. Frank was a member of the Session at Wawanesa, a member of the Wawanesa Co-op, and collected arrowheads. After being declared legally blind, Frank left the farm in 1981 and moved to Wawanesa. Frank MacKay died on August 23, 1986 in Wawanesa, MB. He is buried at Wawanesa Cemetery.

Sybil Susie Tutthill (nee Balding) was born on July 5, 1906 in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, England.
Sybil married Claude Arthur Eugene Tutthill (1905-1974) in England in 1926. She and Claude came to Canada in 1929 with their daughter Hazel, living first at Kisby, SK before moving to Manitoba in 1932. Their son Bernard was born in Saskatchewan. The Tutthill's worked on farms and farmed themselves in a number of locations before settling in Mossegiel for a time. They then moved to Buckingham District and then west of Elkhorn. When the farm they were renting was sold, Claude was asked to help at Elkhorn Residential School until it closed in 1949. In 1951, the couple was asked to move to Prince Albert, SK to assist at St. Alban's Indian Residential School. They retired to Prince Albert in 1971. Following Claude's death, Sybil returned to Elkhorn to be closer to family. Sybil Tutthill died on October 31, 1989 in Virden, MB. She is buried at Elkhorn Cemetery.

John Hugh "Jack" Renton was born November 23, 1899 on the home farm south of Deloraine, MB. He attended Hazeldean and Delorane schools. Jack married Margaret Ellen Potter (1904-1984) in 1929, and together they had two children: Hugh and Jean. The Renton's spent their lives farming in the Hazeldean district until retiring and moving to the town of Deloraine in 1964. In 1988, Jack moved to Delwynda Court. Jack was a member and Past Patron of Deloraine Masonic Lodge, Chapter Member and Past Patron of Deloraine Chapter Eastern Star, a member of the Cemetery Board, served on Hazeldean School Board and was an Honorary Member of the United Church Session and of the Agricultural Society. John Hugh Renton died on March 11, 1989 at Deloraine Memorial Hospital. He is buried at Deloraine Cemetery.

Richard Harold "Doc" Hannah was born on July 9, 1916 in Wakaw, SK. He obtained his BA in biology at McMaster University before joining the staff at Brandon College in 1948, teaching botany and zoology. In 1962, after completing a MSc degree at the University of Minnesota, he returned to Brandon College and was appointed head of his department. He served as faculty advisor to the Athletic Board for twenty years and for over 30 years, Doc was a coach, manager, trainer and the inspiration behind the Braandon College Cap and Brandon University Bobcat hockey teams. It was his involvement with College athletics that led to the nickname "Doc." When he retired in 1981, he was granted the title of Professor Emeritus. In 1993, Doc was inducted into the Brandon University Dick and Verda McDonald Sports Wall of Fame.
Doc married Reta Bernice (1914-2005) and they had three children: Richard, Sharon and Patrick. Doc was a member of the AF and AM (Tweed Lodge No. 113), the Royal Order of Scotland and Khartum Temple Shrine. He served as Grand Master of Manitoba (1984-1985). Richard Hannah died on September 6, 1990 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Brandon Municipal Cemetery.
