History / Biographical

The Brandon Club, designed in 1904 by local architect and builder W.R. Marshall, was Brandon's oldest chartered club. It was located at 158 11th Street. In the early years as an exclusive institution, the club boased such notable members as Sir Clifford Sifton, Senator J.N. Kirchoffer, and Sir R.P. Roblin. The Brandon Club closed its doors c. 2005. At present (June 2007), it is the future home of Lennon Trilogy, professional land surveyors.

William Davies, a Baptist meat packer from Toronto, provided money for the construction of the Brandon College Building.

Scope and Content

Photograph shows the interior of the Brandon College Chapel. The portraits on the back wall are of William Davies and his wife.

Letters of William Davies: Toronto 1854-1861, edited by William Sherwood Fox, is located in Rare Books (call number CT 310.D3A4). Fox was an Instructor at Brandon College from 1900 to 1909.
