Photograph shows a group of 38 loggers outside their camp. The men are wearing long-sleeved shirts, sweaters, and coveralls. One man is holding a cat on his lap, another appears to be holding a rifle.
The Manitoba Pool Elevator at Holland, Manitoba, was built in 1927 and upgraded in 1952. Further renovations occurred in 1982 and 1984, before it was transfered to Agricore in 1998. The Holland elevator was closed in 2001 and demolished in 2003.

Slide was in the possession of John Everitt before its donation to the SJ McKee Archives in 2007.

Photograph is part of series of photographs (20-2009.13 to 20-2009.124) of an antelope hunting trip that likely occurred in Alberta.
Probably the peak of the sawmilling industry in Brandon was "The Big Drive" in 1910, when 125 drivers brought 5 million board feet of timber down the Assiniboine to Hanbury's Mill
Most of these logs were cut in the Riding Mountains in winter and floated down the Little Saskatchewan and Birdtail Rivers to the Assiniboine.
