Courtney Milne, a native of the Canadian prairies, grew up in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He was educated at the University of Saskatchewan, Brooks Institute, Santa Barbara, California, and the University of Minnesota. Milne is the author of several books: 'Prairie Light', 'Prairie Dreams' and recently 'The Sacred Earth', which contains images of 140 world sites that have held mystical and sacred importance for humanity (foreword to this book is written by His Holiness the Dalai Lama). Milne's work has been extensively exhibited both on national and international levels. Courtney Milne lives with his wife Sherrill Miller on an acreage outside Saskatoon. Erected by the village of Wawanesa, the memorial is dedicated to the local citizens who died as a result of the First and Second World Wars. It was unveiled on November 11, 1921.

Photograph shows the dedication of a war memorial in the village of Wawanesa, MB. The memorial is located near the bank of the Souris River. The photograph was taken from Wawanesa Mutual. The street on the left is 4th Street.
