The City of Brandon (by decree of the Province) went to a ward system of government with the civic elections of October of 1971. Ten aldermen, who had to reside in their wards, were elected by the people of their wards. The Mayor was elected by the city at large. The previous committee system was abolished and individual aldermen henceforth had no specific responsibilities.

His collection of mounted birds and animals - what was left of it after improper storage in various places, damage and dispersals - found a home as the B.J. Hales Natural History Museum at Brandon College in 1965.

[St. Joseph’s Academy provided education to the children of Brandon’s Catholic community and was overseen by its own Catholic school board. "Maley House was constructed in 1912 by Henry F. Maley, founder and owner of the Brandon Brewery Company. The house was purchased by Dr. McDiarmid, whose family occupied the home for the next sixty years. It is currently used as a bed and breakfast establishment" (Manitoba Culture, Heritage, Tourism and Sport). Maley House is listed as Manitoba Municipal Heritage Site No. 80.

"Built in 1892 by Bell Brothers Construction, Lorne Terrace is a typical terrace house - a facility that combined several addresses in what would appear to be a very large house" (Manitoba Culture, Heritage, Tourism and Sport). It is currently listed as Manitoba Municipal Heritage Site No. 197.

"Christie House was built in 1905 for Ernest Lisle Christie, founder of the huge stationary and school supply business that still bears his name. Christie and his family lived here until 1934, and the house was occupied by other family members until 1966. The house was designed by Brandon architect W.A. Elliott and was constructed by the local firm of G.C. Taylor" (Manitoba Culture, Heritage, Tourism and Sport). Christie House is listed as Manitoba Municipal Heritage Site No. 20.

Built in 1914 and located on the south side of Louise Avenue, west of 23rd Street. An extension to the south was added at a later date.
[Mr. Stuckey] attended this school from the fall of 1927 to the summer of 1933, grades 1-6, with one room for each grade. Teachers [that Mr. Stuckey] remembered: Grade 1 - Mrs. Mary Wilson (widow); Grade 2 - Miss Mary Harrison, Miss Harrap; Grade 3 - Miss Pottinger; Grade 4 - Miss Doak; Grade 6 - Mr. Allan Mitchell (married Miss Harrap). Principal 1927-28: Mr. Wood, Principal 1934: Mr. Allan Mitchell.
