The Pestyk brothers and the Tackaberry brothers, both immigrant families, cornered the market on custom made skates for professional hockey players in North America in the middle of the twentieth century. In 1937, following George Tackaberry's death, his widow sold his boot patent to C.C.M. (Canadian Cycle and Motor Company Limited). CCM used the design and name for its elite C.C.M. skate, known as Tacks. The Pestyk brothers lived north of Princess Avenue on 22nd Street in Brandon, MB. The Tackaberry brothers lived on 15th Street in Brandon, MB.

Photograph was in possession of Mrs. Ruby Miles, who passed the image on to Fred McGuinness. McGuinness makes reference to Mrs. Miles and this photograph in his Sunbeams column (Brandon Sun 14 September 1978).

Photograph shows a team portrait of Canadian footballers (soccer players) posing in the Melbourne Cricket grounds in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Members of the Canadian team include: front row - Fred Bowman, George Forrest, Bob Harley, Jimmie Adam, Dickie Stobbart, Bill Linning, Leslie Ford; back row - Jack Armstrong, J. History / Biographical
John B. Cole, who operated Cole's Photographic Studio, first at 656 15th Street and then at 831 Rosser Avenue, was a photographer in Brandon from c. 1911 to c. 1914.
