Mary Elizabeth "Molly" Malinowski (nee Edwards) was born on April 5, 1926 in Bury, Lancashire, England. She met her husband Kazimar John "Kaz" Malinowski (1917-1977) at age 18, while at a dance while he was on leave. One week after meeting her husband-to-be, Molly was engaged. After a two-year engagement, Molly and Kaz were married. Kaz returned to Canada before Molly and set up their homestead in Saskatchewan. Molly set sail to Canada and arrived at her new home in Saskatchewan on August 1, 1945. The couple had three children: twins Kenneth and Christine and Barry. Kenneth died at birth. Molly and Kaz spent several years on the farm before relocating to Winnipeg (1954-1957) when Kaz re-enlisted in the Army. In 1957, the family was transferred to Germany, and later to Camp Gagetown in Oromocto, New Brunswick. During this time, Molly joined the United Church. Kaz's final posting was to Shilo, MB, and the family moved to Brandon. In Brandon, Molly joined the U.C.W. She also bowled in the Five Pin Thursday afternoon league, volunteered for Meals on Wheels and at Prairie Oasis. She also loved to travel. Molly married Donald Charles Rollins (1920-2004) in 1987 or 1988. Molly Rollins (Malinowski) died on Aprill 22, 2011 in Brandon, MB. She is buried at Rosewood Memorial Gardens.
Freda Josephine Sheridan (nee Miles) was born on January 31, 1913 in London, England. Raised in Blackham, Kent, she was educated as a nurse and spent time in the early years of World War II working at Seven Oakes Hospital, near Brighton. Freda met her husband, William Sheridan (1909-1983), a Canadian from Hamiota, MB, while visiting relatives. Bill and Freda were married in 1942 and Freda began the process of immigrating to Canada. Freda travelled to Canada with the last convoy of ships that sailed prior to the end of World War II in April 1945. She arrived in Hamiota after three weeks of travel, including 14 days of travel by sea. Bill arrived back in Canada four months after Freda, and the couple set up a homestead on a farm in the local area. The couple had four children: Terry, Michael, Carol and Kathy. The family left Hamiota in 1954, and moved to Brandon, MB. Freda was a member of the War Brides Group of Brandon and the Salvation Army Home League. Freda Sheridan died on April 23, 1998 in Brandon. She is buried at Brandon Municipal Cemetery.

William MacFarlane "Bill" Geiler was born on February 18, 1927 at Dauphin, MB. He came to live in Brandon when his father Felix formed Manitoba Motor Transit in September 1933. When his father passed away, Bill became President and General Manager of the company. He sold the business to Grey Goose Bus Line in 1969. Bill became a caretaker at Manitoba Public Insurance in 1978, retiring in 1992. Bill enjoyed, golfing, fishing and reading. He was a member of the United Commercial Travelers (UCT) and the Kinsmen Club. Bill married Jacqueline June Roberts (1929-2020) on February 7, 1949, and together they had three children: Phil, Linda and Nancy. William Geiler died on June 6, 2001 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Brandon Municipal Cemetery.

William George Vallender was born on December 16, 1892 in Gloucestershire, England. He arrived in Oak Lake, MB in June 1913, and began working on farms in the area. During the First World War he trained at Camp Hughes and served overseas with the 107th Battalion, "Glen Campbell's Timberwolves." William married Eidth Stoodley (1891-?) on September 12, 1918 at Horsley, Gloucestershire. The couple did not have children. Upon his discharge in 1919, the William and Edith returned to the Oak Lake area, where William continued as a farm hand until 1929, when he went to work for Adam Stewart as a mechanic. In 1936, he became the custodian for Oakwood School custodian. William was a member of Oak Lake Citizen's Band, the C.O.F. and a charter member of the Royal Canadian Legion #79. William Vallender died on March 9, 1987 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Oak Lake Cemetery.

George William Hardwick was born on December 1, 1891 near Nesbitt, MB. Bill received his schooling locally, then continued in Brandon. In 1916, he joined the Army and served overseas with the Canadian Expeditionary Force. Upon his discharge in 1919, he returned to the family farm where he remained for most of his life. Bill did not marry. William Hardwick died on May 1, 1996 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Minnewawa Cemetery.

William John Jordan was born on September 19, 1899 on SW 18-10-24 northwest of Oak Lake, MB. He was educated at Blair School. As a young man he farmed tor several years near Woodnorth, MB. Will married Cora Elizabeth Leech (1903-1990) on June 30, 1920 and together they had six children: Gladys, Muriel, Aubrey, Ralph, Faye and Garry. They also raised their nephew Harold. Will and Cora farmed, first at N 1/2 15-9-27, and then starting in June 1927, on the Jordan home farm. In later years, they spent their winters at Oak Lake. Following his retirement, Will lived in Oak Lake full time. Will was very active in the Oak Lake Seniors Group, enjoyed gardening and trips to the farm. William Jordan died on February 25, 1996 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Johnston Cemetery at Oak Lake, MB.

William John Montgomery was born on March 5, 1903 in Elkhorn, MB. He was educated at McAlonen School. Bill married Elsie Sarah Elizabeth Leslie (1905-1998) in 1932, and together they had two sons, John Douglas and William Garry. The couple lived and farmed on section 24-11-28, until retiring to Elkhorn in 1974. Bill served as president of the Elkhorn fair and also as a municpal councillor. William Montgomery died in early 1989. He is buried at Elkhorn Cemetery.

Kendric Hambly Williams was born on November 16, 1900 on Section 14-3-27 W in the RM of Arthur. The family moved to Melita in 1906. Kendric attended Peninsula School and then school in Melita before the family returned to their farm in 1915. Kendric began farming full-time with his father John in 1917. When his father died in 1931, he continue to operate the farm for his mother, but due to condition in the Depression the Manitoba Farm Loans foreclosed on the property; he conintued to rent the land unti l1937, when we started to repurchase. He moved to Melita in 1954, and rented the farm, before selling the farm to Bill Tilbury and Corny Klassen. During this period he also worked as an inspector under the Prairie Farm Assistance Program. In retirement he volunteered a great deal of his time to the Antler River Historical Museum. He never married. Kendric Williams died on December 25, 1986 in Melita, MB. He is buried at Melita Cemetery.

John Dick Vickers was born on September 12, 1903 at Straiton, Edinburgh, Scotland. He came to Canada in June 1910 with his family and they settled near Greenway, MB. John received his schooling in Scotland and at Zepher and Wolsely Schools near Greenway. He participated in the Agricultural Society fairs, was secretary-treasurer of the Greenway Community Hall and played violin at Greenway dances. John married Frances Margaret Girling on June 12, 1928 and together they had two children: Dorothy and Allan. The Vickers' farmed in the Greenway area until selling up in 1935 and moving to Brandon. John began employment with Central Refineries (Anglo Canadian Oils) in 1936, when the refinery in Brandon opened, and he remained there until his retirement in 1966. John's hobbies included fishing and gardening, and he and his wife enjoyed their retirement summers at the family cottage at Sandy Lake. John Vickers died on August 30, 2022 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Rosewood Memorial Gardens.

Jacob Peter Krueger was born on March 14, 1927 near Oakville, MB. Jacob married Katherine Elizabeth "Kaye" Martens (1923-2022) on August 4, 1951, and together they had three sons: Donald, Robert and Edward. The couple farmed at Carnegie. Jacob was involved in church leadership most of his life, was a member of the local Manitoba Pool Elevator Board, helped start the local chapter of the Canadian Food Grains Bank, volunteered on the Youth For Christ crisis phone line and reupholstered hundreds of chairs for the New To You Store for charity. Jacob Krueger died on December 30, 2019 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Zion United Church Cemetery.

Jacob Loewen was born on June 6, 1928 at Fannystelle, MB. Jake grew up in the Moore Park and Justice area of the province, attending schools in both communities. He graduated Grade 12 at Gretna and then attended teachers college in Winnipeg. Taking evening courses, he obtained his teachers certificate and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brandon University in 1974.
Jake began his teaching career in 1950 at Friedensrue, MB, then moved to Wingham (1951-1954), Brooke School, and Rivers Camp (1954-1971) before becoming principal in Broodkale in 1971. He left that postition in 1983 when he retired from teaching. Jake spent many summers crop inspecting and insurance adjusting, and farmed near Justice until 2006. He was a member of the Justice Mennonite Brethren Church and enjoyed singing, music, reading, crosswords and travelling North America.
Jake married Margaret Schmidt on August 21, 1954. Together they had four children: Robert, Donald, Karen and Sandra. Jacob Loewen died on October 8, 2012 in Regina, SK. He is buried Sparling Cemetery.

James David McKeand was born on April 11, 1925 on section 22-11-17 in the Douglas district of Manitoba. His early education was at Elton School. His grandfather was Robert McKeand (1848-1910) and his grandmother was Marion Johnstone (1860-1920). His father was David McKeand (1893-1979) and his mother was Mary Ethel Muirhead (1891-1963). David McKeand was inducted into the Manitoba Agricultural Hall of Fame in 1982.
Jim married Eva Meryl Gillespie (b. 1927) on May 7, 1947 and together they had two dauthers: Elaine and Janet. The couple lived five miles north of Douglas and Jim attended an agricultural course at the Ag Centre in Brandon, graduating with a certificate. A pedigreed seed grower, Jim achieved his 25 year Long Service Certificate from the Canadian Seed Growers' Association. He also grew seed plots for foundation production. Outside of his farm, Jim served on the local school board, was a Manitoba Pool Elevators delegate, served as a director of the Manitoba Agricultural Museum, the Manitoba Agricultural Hall of Fame and the Brandon Consumers Co-operative. He was also active in politics and his church. James McKeand died on January 31, 1987 in Winnipeg, MB. He is buried at Madford Cemetery.

James Miller Young was born on February 4, 1901 at Eden, MB. Jim married Verna Mary Osborne (1907-1997) on October 27, 1930. Together they had three children: Gerald, Patricia and Marjorie. Jim served as a school trustee for the Eden Consolidated School District and Beautiful Plains School Division for more than 30 years, including 15 years at Board Chairman. Jim retired in 1967, and the couple's retirement years were spent in Neepawa, where they were very active in their community. Jim's service was commemorated by JM Young School in 1970. James Young died in May 1986. He is buried at Neepawa Cemetery.

Jessie Ramsay Whyte (nee Inverarity) was born on September 27, 1912 at her parents home in Wellwood, MB. She received her education at Wellwood Consolidated School. Jessie married Thomas Whyte (1903-1993) in Brandon in 1933, and together they raised eight children: Yvonne, Joan, Jim, George, Lois, Jeanette, Heather, and Ferg. The family lived on the family farm "Whytewood" northeast of Wellwood.
Jessie was known for her hospitality and her extensive correspondence with family. For many years she wrote columns in the Carberry News Express. An avid baseball fan, she played with the Wellwood Pats. Jessie was active in her community, holding leadership positions in the 4-H Club, was superintendent of the United Church Sunday School and was a member of both the United Church Women and the Presbyterian Womens Guild. In retirement she volunteered both in Carberry and Wellwood. Jessie Whyte died on October 8, 2000 in Winnipeg, MB.

James Cowan was born on May 26,1884 in Archie Municipality. He attended school at Le Claire and Cherry Grove and later farmed southeast of Mcauley, MB. Jim married Caroline (Lena) Willamina Johnson (1887-1965) in 1914, and together they had five children: Marjorie, Helen, Archibald, Elmer and Clarence. James Cowan died in December 1982. He is buried at Elkhorn Cemetery.

Ada Joanne Titus (nee Graham) was born on January 24, 1940 in Wellwood, MB. Joanne married John (Jack) Sidney Titus (1918-1995) on October 7, 1961 in Wellwood. They had two children together - Michelle and Vonn - and also raised Jack's three children from his first marriage, Gerry, Karen and Kim. Jack served the Wellwood community as grocer and postmaster for 30 years, retiring in 1982. His father was postmaster before him. Joanne was a teacher, who began her career at Dempsey school, continued to Wellwood and Brookdale, and then spent 23 years at RJ Waugh School in Carberry. She retired in 1999. Joanne enjoyed travel, music and dance, and was a member of the Spud City Cloggers. She was an acitive community member within the Presbyterian Church, Guild and Choir, Wellwood Community Club, Trans Canada Trail, and the Carberry Public Library. Joanne Titus died on September 28, 2016 in Medicine Hat, AB.

John (Jack) Hunter was born on April 6, 1910 on the farm at Moline, MB to John Hunter and Florence Currie. A life-long farmer, Jack never married. He and his sister Dorothy remained on the farm, and looked after their parents and their aunt Molly. The siblings retired to Rapid City, MB in 1975. Jack Hunter died on June 3, 1991 in Minnedosa, MB. He is buried at Rapid City Cemetery.

John Hepworth was born on April 5, 1911 at Shoal Lake, MB. He attended Agricultural College at the University of Manitoba and farmed the Hepworth family farm near Menzie. John married Helen Douglas Morton (1915-2008) in 1935, and together they had two daughters, Heather and Jill. The family moved to Shoal Lake in 1945, and John continued farming from town until retiring in 1974. John was actve in the Shoal Lake community, participating in curling and golf, and referring minor hockey. He was a long-time member of the Boards of Directors of Shoal Lake Hospital and of Morley House; he was actively involved in the establishment of the latter, and the Lions Wing addition. Within St. Paul's Anglican Church, John served on the vestry and for a term as People's Warden. John Hepworth died on September 2, 1995 at Shoal Lake, MB. He is buried at Shoal Lake Cemetery.

John Peters was born on November 7, 1918 in Hague, SK. He moved to the Broodkale area in 1941, and then the Minnedosa area. Hazel Sayward was born on January 5, 1929 in Brandon, MB. Her family lived on a farm northeast of Moore Park. Hazel attended school in Moore Park, then in the Brookdale district but eventually quit school to help on the farm. John and Hazel married in November 1943, and together they had two children: Connie and Perry. The couple farmed in the Oberon district, then moved to Duddenhoffer farm, which later became part of the Langford Community Pasture. They managed the government pasture from 1948-1979. Hazel and John then retired on their own farm beside the community pasture. John Peters died on January 21, 2011. Hazel Peters died on January 14, 1917. The are both buried at Riverside Cemetery.

William Joseph English was born on April 9, 1891 in Arthur, ON. He came to Manitoba with his family in 1898 and lived at McConnell for one year. He then moved to Moline where he received his schooling and began farming in 1914. Joe married Julia Isabella "May" Greer (1892-1974) on October 21, 1914. Together they had four biological children: Allen, Elvin, Richard and Ivan. Their adopted daughter Verna Margaret died as an infant. Joe and May moved to Moline in 1947, and then after retiring from farming in 1965, they moved to Rapid City. Joe continued to live in Rapid City until moving to the Minnedosa Personal Care Home in February 1984.
Joe was an avid sportsman, excelling in baseball, track and field. He also enjoyed curling and was a step dancer. He spent 18 years as a councillor for the Saskatchewan Municipality, was a life member of the Rapid City Agricultural Society, served on the Moline Co-op Board, and was Pas Master of Corinthian Masonic Lodge No. 15. He was later affiliated with Prince of Wales Masonic Lodge No. 14 of Minnedosa, receiving his 70-year Bar membership from the Masons in 1984.
Joseph English died on November 29, 1984 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Rapid City Cemetery.

Joseph Shwaluk was born on January 17, 1902 near Olha, MB in a sod hut. His grandparents, father, aunt and uncles had arrived in Canada in 1899 from West Ukraine. Conditions were difficult for the various members of the family upon their arrival in Manitoba. Joseph attended Olha school but largely learned to speak and write English with the aid of Ukrainian/English dictionaries. Joseph married Frances Glushka (1907-1995) on July 15, 1923 and together they had six children: William, Teenie, Sam, Alice, Sylvia and Jean. Joesph farmed near Vista and Oakburn before retiring to Shoal Lake. He was a lifelong member of the Ukrainian Catholic Church. Joseph Shwaluk died on September 22, 2000 at the Shoal Lake-Strathclair Health Centre. He is buried at St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.
