Dr. Fleming arrived May 1881 and set up his drugstore āApothecaries Hallā in a tent. Fleming was the first medical man in Brandon, first to agitate for a hospital, and first chairman of the school board. He died November 1897.

Scott's Marmion and Burke's Reflections on the Revolution in France : with introduction, lives of authors, character of their works, etc., and copious explanatory notes, grammatical, historical, biographical, etc.
The first building was built in 1890 as a reformatory (on right).
A four-story structure (centre) was built in 1892 and the former reformatory became an administrative section. Together they became the Brandon Asylum for the Insane.
