Mild scratched of plexiglass surface. Slight bubbling of printed plastic sheet. Foreign speck of wood between plexiglass in area that is just left and down from center.
There are creases along the right side. A piece of the surface of the paper is peeled off along the top edge. Also, there are various smudges all over, including multiple pencil marks in the bottom horizontal register, which are most likely not inherent
Accretion marks in BM and BR corner. Black transfer marks in areas RM, LM and TL. Color transfer mark to area LM, although it may be inherent to picture.
Yellow stain in TR corner of mat. Light yellow discoloration running down the complete left edge of the picture, alongside the mat edge. Very light discoloration (apparent graphite mark) along top horizontal register.

The Evan McDonald Whidden fonds (RG 1 Brandon College fonds, MG 1 1.8) has a considerable amount of correspondence written by Whidden to his family from the front during his service in World War I.
Glass is broken right through center into three pieces but is holding together by clear tape over the complete surface of the glass. The frame has come apart into three pieces along its mitre joints. Several small pieces of gild are broken off from frame
