[Mr. Stuckey put 2 negatives and two prints in the same envelope. We separated them and numbered the negatives EA6(1) and EA6(2), and the prints EA6(1a) and EA6(2a).]
Frank Massin purchased this building, which had been a wool mill, and added brick veneer in 1910. Frank Massin & Son Ltd. dealt in raw hides, furs and wool,and was in business from 1910 to approximately 1964. (Fred Courtice - 21 year employee)
Last owner: David Weiss. Demolished approximately 1983.

Postcard was sent to Chuck Wilson's aunt, Mrs. W.M. Wilson in Creelman, SK by the McKenzie Seed Company in 1912. Chuck Wilson found the postcard in some of his aunt's papers in 2009 and mailed it to the McKee Archives.

Item consists of a colour postcard of the McKenzie Seed Company building located on the west side of the 100 block of 9th Street. The card was sent to Mrs. W.M. Wilson of Creelman, SK to acknowledge her order.
Writing on the front of the card reads: A.E. McKenzie Co., Limited, Seedsmen, Brandon, Man
Photograph shows four men posing in front of a wood-framed shop on 8th Street and Rosser Avenue. The men are wearing three-piece suits or vests and long-sleeved shirts. A painted sign above the shop reads: Wright & Wright, Hamilton Stove & Tin Store. Hanging from the exterior walls are various tin items for sale: lantern, ladel, dust pan, pots and pans.

The opening of the A.E. McKenzie Building took place the same day as the installation of John E. Robbins as President of Brandon College.
This building, demolished in 1971 or 1972, was used by Western Grocers for many years, and then Richard (Dick) Town used it as a vegetable warehouse during the last ten years or so it was standing. Dick does not remember when it was built (it had no date) but remembers its first tenant as being Borbridge Harness, a harness manufacturer. (From L.A.S. conversation with R. Town, June 13, 1977.)
Borbridge Western Ltd. had extensive contracts with Canadian Army Cavalry during WWI.

This building was located on the east side of 11th Street, between Rosser & Pacific Avenues.
Founded in 1977, Super Thrifty is considered Manitoba's largest independent retail drug store organization. At the time of its founding, Super Thrifty had five drug stores in operation, three in Brandon, one in Hamiota, and one in Rivers.

Photograph shows Greg Skura standing in front of the Super Thrifty Centre at 381 Park Avenue East.
This is likely the same cigar factory mentioned by Barker (pages 110 & 179) as being owned by Barney Isman in 1907 and closing in 1917.
Building was the original Bank of Montreal
For many years this building housed the Carlton Café, prop. Sam Wong, later his sons Wesley, Walker and Charles. After Carlton, building became Trifons Pizza.

Building became the Oak Theatre ca. 1930. Reopened as Towne Cinema ca. 1980 after being closed for many years. [The Towne Cinema has now been closed for many years. P.E. 19/06/09]
