Simmons taught Philosophy and Religious Studies at Brandon College/University from 1947-1971. Simmons was made Professor Emeritus in 1971. He died November 13, 1978.
Young graduated from Brandon College in 1955. He also taught in the Geology Department from 1960-c.1997. Young was granted Professor Emeritus status in 1998.
A plaque that accompanied the photograph and has since been discarded read: John R. Brodie, 1879-1962. Athlete, industrialist, and philanthropist. Resided in Brandon 1902-1920. Founded Great West Coal Company 1912. Contributed $250,000 to Brandon College, 1961, and left the college ¼ interest in his estate. Negative is located with the photograph.
Encyclopedia of World Art Library Reading Room, 2nd floor Library and Arts Building. Presentation by the Brandon College Alumni Association of a cheque for the final payment on the Encyclopedia of World Art as a memorial to Ernestine R.W.
