The photographs (BAPC 7.6 and 7.7) were left with Esther Bryan of the City of Brandon's Recreation Department responsible for scheduling of baseball/softball games at Curran Park. She gave them to Niel Henry, a local girls fastball coach in Brandon ca. 2000. The photographs were stored at Henry's residence at 27 Grant Blvd. until he gave them to the McKee Archives in September 2006.
Scope and Content
Photograph consists of portraits of the players, coach, manager and honorary president of the Thomson girls softball team, Brandon City Champions 1927-1928-1929.

The names of the two catchers, M. Kennedy and O. Johnson are missing from the scanned image.
Photograph shows three women with two children posing in front of an automobile. The woman on the right, identified as Annie May, is the sister of William Frederick McGuinness, Fred McGuinness' father.

L to R: Reita Wood Bambridge; Duncan Scott McIntyre; Bessie Euphemia Turnbull; Marjorie Alleen Sherrin; Susan Gwendolynn Whidden; D'Arcy George Cook; Ruby Elspeth Margaret McDonald; Jean Marion Avery; Walter White; and Lucy Eleanor Beaubier.
The Brandon Collegiate was built in 1907 and officially opened in 1908. Architect W.A. Elliott designed the building, which was faced with brick from Wisconsin (order 65,000 bricks). Located at 527 Louise Avenue, it ceased to be Brandon Collegiate Institute (BCI) in the summer of 1974. It was renamed New Era School on the recommendation of Marion Pye, who was a teacher at BCI in its last years. The name "New Era" was also the name of the BCI yearbook.
