The building pictured was built in 1906-1907. Prior to its use as the Public Library, the building housed the Merchants Bank of Canada. The Library left this location in 1984 when it moved to the former Co-op store on 7th Street & Princess Avenue. This building subsequently became the Brandon Chamber of Commerce building in September of 1985. According to Stuckey, the façade of the building is to remain as heritage building, with interior renovations undertaken with government financing.

Brandon Public Library [branch of Western Manitoba Regional Library].
Speeches and addresses given by executives of the Manitoba Wheat Pool and MPE as well as argricultural experts and supporters of the co-operative movement helped to spread and solidify support for the Pools. They also served to educate rural members on a variety of topics. See fonds level description of RG 4 for complete history/bio of MPE.

The original Merchants Bank of Canada building (built 1890) was, at one time, used by St. John's Ambulance.
The second Merchants Bank of Canada building (built 1906) was used as the Brandon branch of the Western Manitoba Regional Library, and now is home to the Brandon Chamber of Commerce (P.E. 23/06/09).
The original Federal Building and Post Office was built in 1891

The Bank of Montreal rebuilt the former Bass Building directly across from it (southwest corner of 10th St. and Rosser Ave.), and moved into their new facilities in 1982.

Built in 1956 on the southeast east corner of 10th St. and Rosser Avenue (former site of the Olympia Cafe)
In the summer of 1981 the S.S. Kresge store closed, and the Bass Building was purchased by the Bank of Montreal with the intention to renovate and open in 1982.
