Scope and Content
Photograph shows street view of north side of Rosser Avenue, primarily the 700 block. Businesses visible in the Fleming Block include: Lowes Brothers Clothing, Robert Hall [Insurance Broker], Manitoba Farmers Hedge and Wire Fence Company. Businesses visible in the Beaubier Block include the Empire Hotel. Businesses east of the Empire Hotel are grocer A.M. Percival and the Brandon Hardware Company. A number of Aboriginal peoples are driving horse and carriages west along Rosser Avenue as spectators look on.

Photograph shows a group of 10 men, eight whom are wearing sweaters with the letters WCBC appliqued across the chest. The goalie is seated in a wodden chair and wears his goalie pads and skates. The four other players in the front row are also wearing skates and have their hockey sticks.

The Toal Commission was a Commission of Inquiry conducted by James Toal at the Prince Edward Hotel in Brandon,MB from 1971-1972. The purpose of this inquiry was to investigage a report published by the Brandon Police Department entitled, "Problem Metis Families, City of Brandon," as well as allegations of police harassment in the City of Brandon from January 1, 1970, onward. The report was prepared by the Brandon Police Department following a petition submitted to Mayor Wilton. The petition, signed by approximately thirty residents of Brandon's East End, requested that the city prohibit the sale of homes in their neighborhood to Native families. A copy of the report was obtained by the Brandon Sun, which generated a considerable public response that resulted in the investigation in question.
Custodial History
Records were ordered from the Archives of Manitoba by Brandon University Archivist Tom Mitchell and Brandon University history professor Jim Naylor in 2013.
Scope and Content
Fonds consists of records created over the course of the Toal Commission. It includes copies of verbatim transcripts of the Toal Commission hearings, as well as a commission of inquiry, a report on the commission, and indexes, which list the witnesses and evidence presented for each day of the hearings.
There is some kind of residue on the left side of the image.

Photograph was transferred to the Archives from the Athletics Department in May 2017.

Custodial History
Image was donated to the McKee Archives in 2020 by Don Smith, Associate Curator/Manager of the Cornwall Community Museum/SD&G Historical Society and a volunteer with the City of Cornwall's Heritage Cornwall Committee. Smith was asked by a local used bookstore owner to find a home for a box of items they had acquired from the new owner of a Lancaster, ON are antique/collectibles operation.
Scope and Content
Composite portrait of the players, manager and president of the Wheat City Business College hockey team. The name and position/role of each man is written in the bottom right corner of their portrait.
Harry Mummery was born on August 26, 1889 in Chicago, Illinois. Harry arrived in Canada in 1898 and lived in Hamilton, Woodstock, Toronto, before the family moved to Brandon, MB in 1903; for many years he lived at 17 Lorne Avenue East. He and his wife Lena (nee Anderson) had nine children: Gordon, William, James, Donna, Grace, Helen, Patricia, Beverley and Enid. Outside the sporting world Harry worked on the Canadian Pacific Railway as a locomotive fireman and an engineer. Harry played professional Hockey in the National Hockey League for the Toronto Arenas, Quebec Bulldogs, Montreal Canadians and Hamilton Tigers. He played hockey with many of the great players such as Pat Moran, Joe Hall, Joe Malone, Billy Creighton, Jeff Malone, Rusty Crawford, Tommy Smith, Mike Quinn, Jack Adams, Reg Noble, Al Skinner, and Cy Didenny. Playing for the Montreal Canadiens he won the Stanley Cup. Harry Mummery died December 9, 1945. He is buried at Brandon Municipal Cemetery.
Walter “Bump” Mummery was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 10, 1893 and moved with his family to Canada, settling in Brandon, MB in 1903. Walter was employed as a locomotive engineer with the CPR for 46 years, retiring in 1955. He and his wife Myrtle (nee Ramsden) had three sons: Walter, Reginald and Kenneth. Mummery played professional hockey with the Quebec Bulldogs (1913-1918) and with the Dominion Hockey Club, Edmonton (1920-1923). Walter Mummery died suddenly on March 30, 1974, in Chicago. He is buried at Brandon Municipal Cemetery.
Reg Mummery (1920-1983) is the nephew of Harry Mummery and the son of Walter Mummery. Lillian Mummery (1901-1994) is the sister of Harry and Walter Mummery.
Custodial History
As part of the Westman Oral History Collection, this collection was accessioned by the McKee Archives in 1998. The original tapes from the Westman Oral History project were deposited in the Brandon Public Library. Copies of these originals were made by Margaret Pollex of the Brandon University Language Lab at the request of Eileen McFadden, University Archivist in the early 1990s. These copies compose the collection held in the McKee Archives.
Scope and Content
Item is an audiocassette tape containing an interview with Lillian Mummery and Reg Mummery about hockey, particularly the life and careers of Harry Mummery and Walter Mummery. Interviewer is John Miller.
