History / Biographical
Alice May (nee Heal) was born August 13, 1910 in Strathclair, MB to Charles and Kristina Heal. Alice worked as a secretary and bookkeeper and then as a homemaker. She married Frank May (1901-1985) on November 16, 1932 and together they had two children: Frances and Arthur. The family moved to Strathclair in 1946. Alice May died on August 10, 2006 in Shoal Lake, MB. She is buried at Strathclair Muncipal Cemetery.
Custodial History
As part of the Westman Oral History Collection, this collection was accessioned by the McKee Archives in 1998. The original tapes from the Westman Oral History project were deposited in the Brandon Public Library. Copies of these originals were made by Margaret Pollex of the Brandon University Language Lab at the request of Eileen McFadden, University Archivist in the early 1990s. These copies compose the collection held in the McKee Archives.
Scope and Content
Item is an audiocassette tape containing an interview with Alice May about the family history of the Heals. Interviewer is William R. Patterson.

History / Biographical
Frank Morgan May was born on February 23, 1907 in the Oberon district. Frank married Vera Isabella Connell (1904-1995) in July 1934. Together they had five children: James, Kenneth, Robert, Gordon and Katharine. Frank farmed in the Oberon district until the 1960s. He was among the first farmers in his district to try growing unique crops (seed potatoes, peas, sunflowers etc). In his spare time, Frank restored two steam engines, which were both displayed at the Austin Threserman's Reunion every summer. Frank May died on December 6, 1991 in Carberry, MB. He is buried at Riverside Cemetery.

May Yoh was born in Shanghai and raised in Hong Kong. She left for London, England in 1963 after finishing an honors B.A. Yoh completed a M.A. in Philosophy and History of Science at the University of London (London School of Economics) in 1965. From there, she moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she obtained another M.A. at Johns Hopkins University. While teaching at Brandon University she obtained her Ph.D. from York University in 1980. Yoh was awarded the Brandon University Alumni Association's Excellent in Teaching Award in October 1997. The Manitoba Intercultural Council (MIC) was established to advise the Manitoba government on multicultural issues. The standing committees of MIC raised oncerns, developed policy proposals and so on. May Yoh was the Executive Treasurer of MIC (1983-1985) and a member of the Standing Committee on Immigrant Settlement. As an Executive she received minutes of all standing committees' minutes.
Custodial History
Records were collected by May Yoh during the course of her involvement with the Manitoba Multicultural Resources Centre (MMRC) and the Manitoba Intercultural Council (MIC). They remained in her possession until she transfered them to the Archives in 2007.

Collection consists of records produced by and related to the Manitoba Multicultural Resources Centre (MMRC) and the Manitoba Intercultural Council (MIC).

History / Biographical
Edythe May Wood was born on May 24, 1904 in Scarborough, Yorkshire, England and came to Canada with her family in 1911, settling in Medora, MB. Edythe attended Brandon Normal School and then taught for a number of years, primarily in Brandon. During the Second World War she took over as Principal of Fleming School. In 1949, Edythe left teaching for real estate. In the summer she worked for McMorran Agencies in Clear Lake, later buying the agency when McMorran retired. She also managed Rainbow Cabins and the Elkhorn Ranch for R.O. Gregorson. During the winter, starting in 1960, Edythe was the administrator of the Brandon Allied Arts Center. She was forced to retire from the position in 1970 due to vision imparement. Edythe was a member of the Business Professional Group and the Council of Women. She was also instrumental in bringing a CNIB presence to Brandon. Edythe never married. Edythe May Wood died on March 9, 1998 in Erickson, MB. She is buried at Rosewood Memorial Gardens.

Janet Louisa May More was born on the family homestead south of Hartney, Manitoba in 1896. She attended Chain Lakes School and Hartney High School prior to completing Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees at the University of Manitoba. Following her graduation, More taught in various Manitoba schools for fifty years. In addition, she was a member of the Manitoba Education Association, the Manitoba Library Association, the Turtle Mountain Teachers' Association (of which she was the first President), and the Manitoba Teachers' Society, which nominated her for a Life Mmembership. Janet Louisa May More retired in 1967, and resided in Winnipeg, Manitoba until her death. Scope and Content
Collection contains curriculum materials related to the study and teaching of Chemistry, Algebra, Geometry, Mathematics, English and French language studies in Manitoba dating mostly from the 1940s. Collection also contains Christmas concert and dramatic materials; notes from the Manitoba Fine Arts Committee (April 1939); and notes concerning the Manitoba Camera Club, the Manitoba Drama League, Manitoba Society of Artists, Manitoba Adult Education Association, Winnipeg Sketch Club and the Manitoba Handicraft Guild.
