History / Biographical
Donkersloot began working at Brandon University in 1971 as the Clerk of Works. From 1973 until his retirement, he was the Director of Physical Plant.
Custodial History
Photographs were taken by Tom Donkersloot during construction and stored in albums in the Physical Plant H-Hut until they were transfered to the McKee Archives by Doug Duncalf in May 2008.
Scope and Content
Seventy seven photographs of the construction of the Education Building.
Notes
Donkersloot recorded the date and time each photograph was taken on the back of the photos.
Photographs in this series relate to education in the Brandon area, including the Brandon Normal School, Brandon Collegiate Institute (BCI), and science fairs.

The clock in the photograph was designed by Professor Doug Reilly and constructed by Professor David Eaton. Currently (February 2009) the clock is located in the main floor lounge in the Faculty of Education.

Photograph is looking west from the east side of the driveway and shows the Continuing Education H-Hut, which was located between the Brandon College Building and the Citzens' Science Building.
Photograph shows the laying of the cornerstone for the Education Building. L to R: Dr. John E. Robbins (Brandon College/University President) and Hon. George Johnston (Minister of Education).
Photograph shows Harold Stewart - Brandon University Foundation member, Brandon University graduate and former New Era School principal - in either the Brandon College Building or Clark Hall during renovations.
This store, the first established in Brandon (June 12, 1881), was erected on the southeast corner of 6th St. & Pacific Avenue, facing Pacific.
Coombs and Steward later opened a store on the northeast corner of 9th St. & Rosser Ave.
Billy Muir was Coombs & Stewart's first clerk. He later opened a store of his own on the west side of the 100 block of 6th St., which he operated for nearly 50 years. (I was often a customer as a kid - LAS). Billy Muir closed his 6th Street store June 1945 (Brandon Sun). [See E18]
