Jacob Penner was born on March 22, 1919 in Siberia. He immigrated to Canada in June 1930, farming at 36-12-17 near Brookdale, MB and then at 22-12-17 near Justice, MB. He married Mary Reimer (1924-1989) on October 25, 1952 and they had three children: Arthur, Paul and Louise. Jacob Penner died on March 10, 2017 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Sparling Cemetery in the RM of Elton.

As part of the Westman Oral History Collection, this collection was accessioned by the McKee Archives in 1998. The original tapes from the Westman Oral History project were deposited in the Brandon Public Library. Copies of these originals were made by Margaret Pollex of the Brandon University Language Lab at the request of Eileen McFadden, University Archivist in the early 1990s. Jacob Peter Krueger was born on March 14, 1927 near Oakville, MB. Jacob married Katherine Elizabeth "Kaye" Martens (1923-2022) on August 4, 1951, and together they had three sons: Donald, Robert and Edward. The couple farmed at Carnegie. Jacob was involved in church leadership most of his life, was a member of the local Manitoba Pool Elevator Board, helped start the local chapter of the Canadian Food Grains Bank, volunteered on the Youth For Christ crisis phone line and reupholstered hundreds of chairs for the New To You Store for charity. Jacob Krueger died on December 30, 2019 in Brandon, MB. He is buried at Zion United Church Cemetery.

Donald Fleming Parrott was born on September 12, 1916 in Winnipeg, MB. In 1936, he moved to Red Lake, ON where he worked as an engineer for Campbell Gold Mine until his retirement. Don served overseas in the Second World War with the PPCLI for five years, from 1940-1945. Don married Mary Bridget Frances Crowley (1912-1998) in 1943, and together they had four children: Daine, John, Constance and Susan. Don had a keen interest in prospecting, history and mining. He was the author of the book "The Red Lake Gold Rush 1926." Donald Parrott died on June 10, 2002 in Thunder Bay, ON. He is buried at Brandon Hills Cemetery.

Donald N. Wheeler taught Economics at Brandon University between 1970-1980. He received his B.A. from Reed College in 1935 and two years later graduated with a B.A. First Class in the Final Honour School of Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Oxford. From 1937-1938, he pursued studies as a Candidate for Doctorat en Droit in the Faculty of Law at the University of Paris. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. (1975) from Oxford University.
Upon his return to the United States in 1933, Wheeler became an Insturctor of Government at Yale University. From 1939 through 1941, he was a research economist for the U.S. Treasury department and the Senate Banking and Currency Committee. With the outbreak of World War Two, Wheeler was assigned to the State Department, where he worked as a section chief in the Research and Analysis Branch of the OSS until 1946. Following the war, Wheeler became a casualty of McCarthyism and spent the majority of the next twenty years farming in Washington State.
Wheeler returned to academic life in 1965, as a professor of Economics at Franconia College; he resigned from the position in 1968 and returned to Oxford University as a Candidate for a Doctorate in Philosophy.
While at Brandon University, Wheeler was a member of the Senate, and served on committees of BUFA, the Faculty of Arts and the Board of Governors. He taught courses in economic development, ecnoomic history, the history of economic thought and agricultural economics. Wheeler was named Professor Emeritus of Brandon University in 1986.
Donald Wheeler died in Seattle on November 8, 2002.
Custodial History
Following the death of Professor Wheeler, his daughter put together a collection of his writings. A copy was given to Errol Black, who then donated it to the Archives on March 31, 2006.
Scope and Content
Fonds consists of "The Collected Writings of Donald Niven Wheeler" edited by Honeybee Wheeler Burns, transcribed by Susan E. Wheeler and published by Linda M. Elias. Fonds also includes a draft of Imperialism and Revolution in Afganistan prepared by Wheeler and dated April 1, 1986.

Scope and Content
Collection consists of the Brandon College Annual Graduating Banquet programs for 1926 and 1927. The 1926 program contains the autographs of the graduating class members. The 1927 program contains a letter to Freeman from Gertrude Godley (Class of 1927).
The collection also includes a Souvenir Class of 1926 book made by Freeman. It contains the College yell; a drawing of the Class of 1926 badge; the Class of 1926 colours, motto and yell; the Class song; Brandon College student and faculty autographs (including Annie Wright, Harris MacNeill and J.R.C. Evans); the Class lit programme; and a list of winter parties. The sourvenir book also contains five black and white photographs: one of Clark Hall and the Original Building, and four of what is probably various Class of 1926 members (one is labelled "Roland Christian"). Finally the book contains Donald Freeman's examination marks in Part 2 Matriculation for Arts from the University of Manitoba (1921).

Lynn Shier was born November 28, 1942 in London, Ontario to Anglo-Saxon Protestant parents. Her father and mother were of German and English-Dutch descent, respectfully. On her father’s side, Lynn’s ancestors emigrated from Germany to the United States in 1749. Both of her parents were born and raised in Iowa, where they also married in 1929. Following her parent’s marriage, the couple moved to London, Ontario in 1928 where her father was employed as a professor at the University of Western Ontario. Lynn resided in London, Ontario with her parents for sixteen years before relocating to Santa Barbara, California. After residing in California for three years, Lynn came back to London, Ontario in order to attend the University of Western Ontario. During her time at the University, Lynn met her future-husband Allan Shier. Allan Shier was born to parents of German and Scotch descent. His father’s ancestors immigrated to North America during the late 1740s or early 1750s from roughly the same region of Germany as Lynn’s ancestors.
Lynn and Allan were married in 1963. Following the wedding, the couple remained in Ontario for two years, one year of which was spent in Toronto. The couple later moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba where they lived for two years before travelling to Souris, Manitoba. While in Souris, Manitoba Allan worked as a district city planner. Lynn and Allan remained in Souris, Manitoba for four years after which they relocated to Brandon, Manitoba in 1970, where Allan continued to work as a district city planner for the city and Southwestern Manitoba. During their married life, Lynn worked as a household interviewer, and as a secretary for the Daly House Museum and the Assiniboine Historical Society while raising the couple’s children, two girls and a boy. Lynn was also very active in the Brandon community.
