Cando Contracting Ltd. was found in 1978 by Gord Peters and Rick Hammond. The company began as a small rail line dismantling and salvage company operating out of Brandon, Manitoba. The company changed its name in 2013 to Cando Rail Services Ltd., which supplies railway support services (e.g., engineering and track services, industrial rail services, mechanical services, rail car storage, railway material sales, short line operations, transload services) to industry and the rail sector. History / Biographical
Wheat City Business College was established in 1904, when J.W. Beveridge and F.E. Werry resigned from the Commercial Department of Brandon College to establish the Wheat City Business College. It was located originally on the top floor of the Commercial Building at 143-10th Street, owned by Hughes and Co. Wheat City Business College continued to operate until the later 1960s. In 1911, the Henderson's Brandon City Directory lists the following teachers on staff: Mamie J. Macdougall, John B. Sample, John H. Snyder, Nettie M. Werry, and F.A. Wood (principal).

This picture is the same as the negative in the Lawrence Stuckey collection. Stuckey obtained a copy of the photo from George Lepard, father of Linda Bilkoski (nee Lepard). Date range based on employment dates of Edward Chalmers. Ed Chalmers was the brother of Catherine Harden (nee Chalmers), mother to Edith Harden, who in turn, is the wife of George Lepard.

Photograph shows the remains of the Syndicate Block after the fire in January 1916. The building is situated on the southwest corner of Seventh Street and Rosser Avenue. Ice from the firefighting process covers the building. The tailor shop J.S. Laughton & Son (701 Rosser Avenue) can be seen on the north side of Rosser Avenue.
