Dorothy Gladys "Bobbie" Saunders was born in England in 1925. Donald James Scott (1922-1988), visited Bobbie's aunt while serving in England with the Winnipeg Rifles in 1941, and the couple married on July 24, 1943. Their first child, Robert, was born in England. Don was discharged in August 1945 and returned to the farm at Eden, MB and awaited the arrival of his family. Bobbie and Robert arrived in February 1946. The couple had three more children together: Betty Anne, Peter and David. They also raised a foster daughter, Violet Long.
Don worked the family farm and for Hare's Cartage, while Bobbie worked with Dr. Del Dawson. In 1958, they started the Neepawa Canvas Works. Although they later sold the business, Bobbbie continued to manage it. In October 1971, Bobbie became the Administrator of Touchwood Park Association. She held this position until taking early retirement in 1982. Bobbie and Don enjoyed travelling and spending time with family. Following her husband's death, Bobbie remained on the farm until 1998, when she moved into Neepawa.
Dorothy Scott died on December 22, 2010. She is buried at Riverside Cemetery.

As part of the Westman Oral History Collection, this collection was accessioned by the McKee Archives in 1998. The original tapes from the Westman Oral History project were deposited in the Brandon Public Library. Copies of these originals were made by Margaret Pollex of the Brandon University Language Lab at the request of Eileen McFadden, University Archivist in the early 1990s. These copies compose the collection held in the McKee Archives.

Item is an audiocassette tape containing an interview with Dorothy Scott about the formation, history and details of Touchwood Park Association, an organization that supports individuals with developmental disabilities. Then known as the "Touchwood Park Association for the Mentally Retarded," the organization was founded in 1963 and located in Neepawa, MB. Scott discusses the philosophy of the association as well as its specific functions. She also describes the contributions made by the Canadian government, the town of Neepawa, local businesses, charity organizations, and a supportive surrounding community. In several instances Mrs. Scott reflects on the necessity of this type of association. Anecdotes are given on Mrs. Scott's experience working for the Association. Interviewer is Winnie Cheetam.

Dorothy Irene Broomhall was born on March 28, 1920 in Brandon, MB. She attended Business College and then worked for the Federal Government from 1942-1976, mostly with the Vetran's Land Act. Dorothy never married. Involved with the Girl Guide organization for over 80 years, she also volunteered at Fairview Personal Care Home for more than 30 years, and was very active in her church (St. Mary's Anglican Church and then St. Matthew's Cathedral). In addition to travelling, her hobbies included knitting for family, friends and Christmas Cheer. Dorothy Broomhall died on November 14, 2020 in Brandon, MB. She is buried at Brandon Municipal Cemetery.

Betty Margaret Gibson was born on July 14, 1911 in Brandon, MB. She attended primary school in Alexandra and Park schools, and took her teachers education at the Brandon Normal School. She began her teaching career in 1929. Teaching first in Deloraine and Chater, in 1936, Gibson travelled to South Africa to be the headmistress at Kingsmead College, Johannesburg. She returned to Brandon ten years later to take up the post of Principal at Fleming School. During this time she completed a BA from Brandon College (1959). Attaining her Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, she taught at the University of Saskatoon and Brandon College/University. At Brandon University she was heavily involved with Indigenous teacher programs, including BUNTEP, PENT and IMPACT. She was briefly the Assistant Superintendent for the Brandon School Division (1967-1968). Gibson was active in the Children's Aid Society, co-created and appeared in a television show called "Common Sense About Reading" (CBC), and was the author of a children's book called "The Story of Little Quack." Gibson received the Centennial Medal in 1967, and the J.M. Brown Award (1974), for contribution to education in Manitoba. She was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Liberal Laws from BU in 1975, and even in retirement continued to teach education courses at BU and help children with reading disabilities. In 2003, she was inducted into Brandon University's Hall of Fame. Betty Gibson School in the Brandon School Division is named in her honor. Gibson never married. Betty Gibson died on February 23, 2001 in Brandon, MB. She is buried at Rosewood Memorial Gardens.

Lady and Senior Stick were honorific positions that existed during the Brandon College era. The offices of Senior Stick and Lady Stick were replaced by the offices of President and Vice-President of the Brandon College Students' Association on January 29, 1966. The change was the result of proposed changes to the B.C.S.A. constitution passed almost unanimously by the student body; the office of President enabled a co-ed to hold the highest student office, which was impossible under the previous system. Following the change in 1966, the Class Presidents were renamed faculty Sticks. At some point during the Brandon University era the faculty Stick positions were renamed faculty commissioners. The use of "stick" appears to be a particularly Canadian one.
The stick of office was carried by the incumbent as a symbol of his or her position.
Like the sticks of office at other universities and colleges in Canada, the Brandon Lady's stick is composed of an elongated wooden rod, painted or stained dark, with a metal bottom cap and an ornamental metal top in silver. The Brandon College Lady's stick also contains silver rings dating from the 1923-1924 school year, each ring containing the name of the Lady Stick chosen for that year.
It was also customary to attach a ribbon(s) in the college colours (blue and gold) to the stick. The ribbons attached to the Brandon College Lady's stick were donated by the 1954-1955 Lady Stick Verda Peden (McDonald) in 2006.

The Lady's stick was previously displayed in a glass fronted display case donated by the Class of 1966. Unfortunately, two holes were drilled in the stick to anchor it to the display case. The Senior stick was also displyed in the same case, however at some point prior to 1997 it disappeared from the display case.
The silver rings and crown on the stick easily tarnish, but can be shined with any silver polish.

The beanie measures 17 cm in diameter and is approximately 11 cm tall. It is composed of alternating bands of blue and gold felt. The initials "BC" appear on the front of the beanie.

The spoons celebrate Brandon University's 25th Anniversary (1967-1992). They are gold plated teaspoons with a round emblem in blue with the words "Brandon University 25, 1967-1992" in gold. The spoons are approximately 11.5 cm long.

The ring is a rectangular gold class ring from 1963, with the Brandon College shield of arms on the top of the ring. The numbers "19" and "63" are engraved on the shoulders of the ring. The ring is in a gray velvet jewellery box from Zeke's Jewellers.
The medallion was presented by The National Battlefields Commission in commemoration of the Tercentenary of the founding of Quebec by Champlain and was given to Brandon College by G.R. Coldwell, Manitoba's Minister of Education.
The medallion is approximately 7.5 cm (3 inches) in diameter and cast in bronze. One side depicts Champlain standing on the site of Stadacone (present day Montreal). The reverse depicts in high relief, Liberty (France) and Britannia (England) seated under a tree. It is signed by the sculptor Henri Dubois. Dated 1608-1908, being the tri-centennerie of the founding of Quebec, Canada.
The medallion is in its original box; made of red leather with maroon velvet lining. The presentation card is affixed to the underside of the top of the box.

The spade was presented to Her Majesty the Queen on the occasion of the cornerstone laying of the John R. Brodie Science Centre, Brandon University, July 12, 1970. The spade itself is 16 cm long, with a 14 cm black handle. Birks Stirling is stamped on the back.

The spade is approximately 16.5 cm long and is missing its handle. It is composed of silver, but appears to have been gold plated at one point as there are patches of gold over top of the silver base.

The badge is 9 cm wide and 11 cm long. It is composed of blue felt with gold embrodery and is shield shaped. It has scalloped edges and a quill and inkwell design underneath the "Literary" banner. The back of the badge has a stamp that reads "Smith's Crests, 464 Fairford (?) W., Moose Jaw, Sask."

The plate measures 26 cm in diameter and is white with blue glazing. The centre of the plate depicts the Brandon College Original Building and the words "Brandon College, Brandon Manitoba." The outside of the plate is a flower motif. On the back of the plate, in the same blue as the front, are the words "Canadian View Series, Brandon Manitoba." There is also a trademark of a bird with a banner reading "Trademark England."

The three plates are identical and measure 26.5 cm in diameter. They were made to celebrate Brandon University's 75th Anniversary (899-1974). The plates are primarily white with a faint blue or green outer edge. In the centre is a picture of the University campus looking south from 18th Street; the Brandon University sign, the Drama building (originally the Science building and currently the Knowles-Douglas Student Union building), the Brodie building and McMaster Hall are all visible. "75th Anniversary 1899-1974" is on the back of each plate in gold lettering.
