David Romeril lived in France, Bahamas, immigrated to Canada in 1960. He worked as a teacher and social worker in northern Ontario and Manitoba communities. A series of six of his watercolors has been reproduced by Leech Printing in Brandon (1996 inventory)

The artist was awarded the Canadian Centennial Medal in 1967; a Canada Council grant for writing in 1972; the Junior Achievement Award in 1974; and the Outstanding Young Manitoban Award in 1982. His painting, his writing and his teaching all attest to Jackson Beardy's enlightened determination to recall and to record in a meaningful way the heritage of his people for the benefit of present and future generations. Arthur D. Amiotte is a member of Oglala Sioux Tribe. Educated in the U.S., Amiotte has worked on and edited numerous native art and myth books. As a recognized artist, Amiotte won many awards and honors from various North American arts foundations. Amiotte has been exhibited extensively in the United States and Canada.
